Football Legend Rashidi Yekini has passed away Friday at 48 years old. He
reportedly died due to a neurological disease he battled for years. One of the
finest footballers Nigeria ever produced and a two time African footballer of
the year, Rashidi Yekini Scored Nigeria’s first Ever FIFA World Cup goal
leaving behind two children,he Scored Nigeria’s first Ever FIFA World Cup goal and scored a total of 37
goals in 58 appearances for the National team, Super Eagles.
Yekini was born in Kaduna Nigeria
on October 23rd 1963, after playing with various teams and in
different countries; he made a short comeback in 2005 to play with Gateway FC.
He was buried this afternoon(5th May)
according to Islamic rites at his hometown of Ira in Kwara state. May his soul
rest
