Igbinedion’s Birthday Tragedy: 4 Lecturers Die In Auto Crash


 The lecturers, all from the Department of Business Administration, were on their way to Benin to attend The 78th birthday anniversary celebration of business magnate and father of Lucky Igbinedion,  former governor of Edo State, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion  when the accident occurred.


An eyewitness told NAN that a trailer coming from Benin, in an attempt to avoid a failed portion on the road, drove on the lane of the oncoming Audi car with the lecturers, forcing it to crash into the river. The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Okika, confirmed the death of the lecturers, but said that he was yet to be fully briefed on the circumstances of their death.

Meanwhile, the Edo Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Ken Nwagbe, who also confirmed the crash to NAN, said that although the accident happened on Wednesday, they were yet to make any rescue. “And right now (Thursday) as we speak, my men, the police and members of other sister agencies are at the scene trying to rescue the bodies and remove the car from the river,” he said.
