The News Agency of Nigeria is reporting that the Tinubu Magistrates’ Court yesterday struck out a case of attempted rape against the suspect for “want of diligent prosecution”.
The suspect, 26 year-old Arthur Obiora, faced a three-count charge of threat to life, attempted rape and causing bodily harm to the 21-year-old student.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following a reshuffle in the Lagos State Judiciary, a new magistrate, Awogboro, took over the case from Martins Owunmi on Wednesday and granted a prayer of the defence to strike out the case.
He told the court that the two families had “entered into discussions on how to resolve the case amicably’’.
