Nike
has ended Manny Pacquiao contract for saying gay couples worse than animals,he
says: "It's common sense. Do you see
animals that go male to male or female to female? So the animals are even
better," Pacquiao told local broadcaster TV5 in an interview aired this
week.
Though he had apologized
He swiftly apologised, tweeting:"I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I've hurt. God Bless!" However, Nike have decided to cut all ties with the Filipino fighter. Pacquiao, an eight-time world champion, is currently training for what is expected to be his retirement fight - against Timothy Bradley in April.
But Nike had made up their minds ending the contract "Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. "We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao."
