IG advocates N50,000 minimum wages for policemen

One of the commentate said “It is better to embark on serious criminal background & mental checkup b4 recruiting the police @ all level& not until u stop recruiting criminals into the police nothing will stop them from crimes.” May I also add that the new and old police men should go for few months counseling since this bribery has taken its toll on them……What’s your take on this?

The Acting Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has advocated a N50, 000 minimum wage for a constable in the police force, saying such will go a long way to boost morale and promote efficiency.
The acting IG, who was on his first official visit to Lagos State on Monday, said he had already made proposal to the Federal Government and making a “serious representation” for the actualisation of the new salary structure for the police.

He said apart from salary, other welfare packages like housing, training, mortgage policy and efficient cooperative society were being restructured to make sure that every policeman benefitted.
