4 UNILAG STUDENTS GANG RAPE 17 YEAR OLD FEMALE STUDENT

You are sent to school to study and become useful to the society but lately the rate at which the case of rape is being reported in our universities these days is alarming? Is because the gang rape at Abia State University last year, who  had the audacity to shoot a video of their sexual assault of the victim were not given capital punishment, that this one is happening AGAIN?

Four students of the University of Lagos were on Tuesday charged before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly gang raping a 17-year-old girl. The accused – Jeremiah Bamigbayan, 18; Lanre Olayemi, 19; Abisoye Atoyegbe, 18; and Nelson Onyeoziri, 18 – are facing a three-count charge of rape, conspiracy and assault.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges. But the prosecutor, ASP Innocent Effiong, said the accused, all of the Business Administration Department, allegedly committed the offence when they conspired and raped their victim on March 17.

He said the alleged victim, a student of History and Strategic Studies of the same university, was overpowered and raped at about 10.30 p.m. at Ozolua Boys Quarters on the campus. Effiong said the offences contravened Section 258, 259 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State 2011. Magistrate Adesola Ikpatt granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum. She adjourned the case to April 30 for mention.

Extracted from Vanguard.

Shameless students, they don't know that what goes around comes around.

  8. Mrs Udu most times parents are running up down trying to fend for the family and ignore the crucial part of being parents, but u cant blame them, the country as a whole has no strong legal backings..it a big shame.

  9. So who is to be blamed on this one, the govt or the student, that last comment is wrong bc if these children are well brought this wont be happening

  10. I quite agree with Carol, this time I think the govt has nothing to do with this...everything we blame govt, take good at what is happening in ur home, charity begins at home

  11. You guys shld think beyond this, there 5factors that contributed to this, the girl, the boys, lecturers, parents and the govt....if the girl/boz were well brought up this wont happen, if lecturers during course of lecture raise values ie topics that make this kids reflect +vely abt their lives this wont happen, if parents play their roles being close to their kids, teach the ways of God this wont happen and govt showing good examples as leaders this wont happen,in fact ds country will be a better place to live, than this lawlesness all around, home school, offices etc.
