An official of the Lagos Traffic Management Agency
(LASTMA) was yesterday crushed to dead by a BRT bus along Marina Road.
The victim identified as Eko Peter was on duty at the BRT
intersection at Onikan and had attempted to cross the road when he was knocked
down by the vehicle.
Identity of the driver was not known
but the agency’s public relations officer, Mrs Bola Ajao, said the BRT driver
was arrested at Iyana Oworo end of the third mainland bridge and he is being detained
at the Lion Building Police Station.
A witness said the driver, having run
over his victim, waited a while before he zoomed off in high speed.
Bola Ajao said the victim was taken to
the Lagos General Hospital.
The Lagos State Police Relations
Officer (PPRO), Ngozi Braide, said it is a clear case of hit and run and that
the suspect will face the music.
