This sentencing closes the door on a shocking case of modern day slavery.

Bidemi Bello, US Based Nigerian Woman, Jailed 11 years in Georgia for HumanTrafficking by a United States Court. Picture of Bidemi Bello......

She was also ordered to be deported from the US upon completion of her sentence. Her house has been has been sold.

Her victims Laome and Dupe; Laome was said to have travelled to US with Bello in October 2001 when she was 17 years old, using a fraudulent British passport she obtained for her, while Dupe travelled with an associate of Bello to US in November, 2004 when she was 20, also using a fraudulent British passport.

Upon arrival in US, Bello was said to have reneged on her promise to the victims and their families that she would send the two ladies to school in US and even pay one of them for her services. These victims sleep on the floor or a couch, prevented them from using the shower, or eat the food they cooked, and even forced them to eat spoilt and moldy food.

During CNN interview, one of the victims said Bidemi Bello, made her eat her own vomit, because of this she attempted suicide several times by swallowing bleach which Bidemi gave her to wash the fences of her home, and instead of giving her a lawn mower to clear the grasses she prefers to see her use her hands to pull out the grasses. She also said the day she picked up a phone call from her relative in Nigeria,Bello gave her the beating of her life throughout that night with bruises and sore all over her body.

The threats, physical abuse, and isolation to these victims in order to force them to work for her without pay while also taking custody of their passports and government identification documents in order to maintain their services - an offence known as document servitude.

My few Nigerians, it's not today this started, my advice is that dont envy people especially when they flaunt their wealth bc u dont know how they got it and how they are living. For all we know it might be her evil deeds that is making vicious and in human despite her wealth, living in a rich area in US and u cant give ur maids food, the cheapest thing u can get in America.

Emmanuel Nnaji and Ngozi Nnaji, was sentenced to 20 years and nine years in prison respectively, for trafficking a Nigerian widow and enslaving her for over eight years in US.

In 2006, a Nigerian-born medical doctor, Adaobi Stella Udeozor, a resident of Darnestown, Maryland was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison and fined for enslaving another Nigerian. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $110,249 to her 23-year old victim for her years of unpaid services.
In 1999, another Nigerian couple, Emeka Udogwu and Ifeoma Ezeona Udogwu, were arrested for trafficking two young Nigerian girls into the United States and forcing them to be their servants.
the list will keep rising.
