Female NYSC member wins car for maintaining virginity till marriage

The governor spoke in Umuahia on Wednesday while welcoming to his office the winner of the 2013 World Purity Queen, Mrs. Nwanyieze Prosper, who also won the car prize donated by the Purity Organisation, as a reward for maintaining her virginity till marriage.

“I challenge our youths to jealously preserve their virginity until they get married as the benefits of chastity are far reaching,“ he said.

He assured the organization of the continued support of government in its activities.

Orji represented by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mr. Nkwachukwu Agomuo, said the consequences of pre-marital sex are enormous, adding that the ideals of the Purity Organisation were in line with the goals of his administration.

President of Purity Organization, Mr. Prosper Tochukwu, said that the car prize donated by his organization was in fulfillment of an earlier pledge it made that the car would be given to any girl certified as virgin before marriage and described it as an “ enviable gift”.

According to him, only two persons registered for the contest since last year and were both certified as virgins by medical experts, indicating that the second person would also be given a car soon.

The winner of the contest, who is a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Bayelsa State, urged single ladies to strive not to lose their virginity despite all the lures and pressures even as she counselled those that lost theirs not to wallow in shame and regret but to resolve to begin to live life of chastity.

One of the medical doctors that examined and certified her virginity on the eve of her wedding, Dr. (Mrs.) Ifeyinwa Uma- Kalu, urged parents, churches and government at all levels to help promote chastity in the society.

In her biography,Goldie was born Susan Adebimpe Filani and she is from Ekiti state, She studied and lived in the UK for some years before returned to Nigeria to focus on her music career.

Singer Goldie (Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey) is dead

    “With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award.

She was rushed from her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at exactly 7:30pm in the evening.

We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance in which she passed away; the abundance of talent she exhibited in her short but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her.

 She is survived by her father, step- mother, brothers and sisters. We deeply sympathise with her family and fans all over the world and very grateful to all and sundry, especially, the vibrant Nigerian media for their concern and prompt reportage.

We shall keep everybody informed as events unfold as we are devastated by the sudden loss.” Goldie's remains has been deposited at the mortuary.

Not so happy VALENTINE day in Abeokuta: 7 Injured, 20 Vehicles Damaged As Hoodlums Invade Motor Parks

On Thursday some hoodlums invaded two motor parks in Kuto, and Ita-Oshin ,leaving seven people critical injured.

About fourteen persons were said to have been arrested by the security agencies which include State Security Service, Special Anti-Robbery Squad,SARS, and the Police in the state in connection with the attack.

Reporters gathered that the hoodlums who were led by one Lateef Oriola reportedly damaged about 20 vehicles in both Kuto and Ita-Oshin in Abeokuta during the attack.
It was further gathered that, the crisis ensued as a result of the alleged plan by a faction of the Road Transport Employers’s Association, RTEAN, in the state led by Toriola , who was described as a land speculator.

There was heavy presence of policemen in Kuto motor park shortly after the violent attack, while the injured were reportedly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre ,Idi-Aba Abeokuta The Chairman of RTEAN,Mugisu Akinpelu while narrating the ordeals of his members at both motor parks, said seven persons were injured at Kuto motor park but no one was attacked at Ita-Oshin motor park.

While appealing to the government to come to their aid, the Chairman said , the ring leader of the hoodlums , Toriola had been barred from parading himself as either a member or Chairman of the Union. According to the Chairman who spoke with newsmen after the incident, we had got the hint that, the Toriola group was going to unleash terror on us, that was why, the SSS patrolled the motor parks and eventually arrested fourteen of them. While giving statistics of the people arrested so far, Akinpelu said six of them were arrested by SSS, three were nabbed by SARS,and five were arrested by policemen from Ibara station.

 Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi said five people were injured,warning members of the union to shun hooliganism. Adejobi in his press statement sent to newsmen said “the Commissioner of police in Ogun state, Ikemefuna Okoye has warned the transport unions in the state to maintain law and order as the command would not condone any act of hooliganism or violence.

 “ He said this while reacting to the clashes between some union factions at the early hours of today at Ita-Oshin and Kuto parks in Abeokuta when some union members engaged in free- for –all that left five people injured. “ it is the quick response of the police that stopped the brouhaha and restored normalcy to the areas as police rescued injured ones to the hospital.

The command will investigate this and bring to book anyone found wanton. The command assures the good people of Ogun State adequate security always,” the PPRO said.

Father of Siamese Twins Pleads to Let Them Die

An Indian father whose 15-year-old conjoined twin daughters are living in increasing agony has pleaded for help or for them to be allowed to die. Saba and Farah Shakeel are joined at the skull and have been suffering terrible headaches, joint pain and slurred speech as they grow older.

Five years later, the girls' condition is so much worse that Mr Shakeel has come to the heart-breaking conclusion that their suffering should come to an end, unless someone can fund treatment.the pair were in excruciating pain all the time they are awake, which is at least 15 hours a day. 'In the last few months, they've suffered continuous headache and body pain.
