36 year old woman gives up on men and marries ‘herself’

Ha!ha!ha….this is funny but its real….what does this now mean? I know she can adopt kids if wants to but how about other joy that marriage brings when a man and woman marries like the love making? What's your take on this?
A 36 year old US woman, Nadine Schweigert, who is  tired of living single and tired of men recently walked the aisle with herself
At the wedding ceremony, attended by 40 of her friends, Nadine read her vows:

“I, Nadine, promise to enjoy inhabiting my own life and to relish a lifelong love affair with my beautiful self” and presented herself with a ring and invited all guests to “blow kisses to the whole world”.
According to Schweigert, who works at Swanson’s Health and teaches yoga “I have never been happier…I married myself to celebrate the progress I have made in life after being divorced 6years ago.” Ms Schwigert said she went through a painful time when her two kids chose to live with their father after her divorce.

“I was waiting for someone to come along and make me happy,” she says. “At some point, a friend said, ‘Why do you need someone to marry you to be happy? Marry yourself.’” When Schweigert first mentioned the idea a year ago, she was discouraged by several female friends who thought it was weird but when the idea resurfaced some months ago she embraced it

“It was just one of those things where you get an idea, and you know you just have to do it…and this time my friends backed me up…two friends baked cakes, another friend officiated and many others presented readings.”

So far, Nadine enjoys spending time with herself, going out on date nights, buying treats and gifts for herself, and says she’s no longer waiting for “someone to complete her.”

Scotland Yard Police officer and a detective have been arrested for bribery in connection with the investigation in money laundering charges involving James Ibori

One thing I admire about the law overseas, is that nobody is above the law, no matter how long it takes, once you are found guilty you must be punished…….just read

Two former Scotland Yard police officers and one serving detective who handled the fraud case involving former governor of Delta State, James Ibori have been arrested for alleged bribery in connection with the investigations into money laundering charges.

They were among those arrested as part of an investigation into allegations that members of the force’s anti-corruption unit were paid thousands of pounds in bribes.

The arrests are part of a six-month operation launched after the Met and other bodies received documents from an anonymous source last year. The documents suggested that its officers leaked sensitive information to a firm linked to Ibori’s lawyers.
The Metropolitan police said yesterday that a 45- year-old male detective was arrested on suspicion of receiving payments for information at a residential address outside of London. Two of the former police officers, now private detectives aged 53 and 58, were also arrested during raids at a business address in central London.

The two were arrested on suspicion of bribery of a police officer and remained in custody. Their arrest was part of a “pre-planned operation that forms part of a long and complex investigation by the Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS)”, the report quoted Metropolitan Police as saying. A statement from the force also said: “The Metropolitan Police Service is investigating an allegation that illegal payments were made to police officers for information by a private investigation agency.” A Yard spokesman reportedly said on Wednesday that, “We are investigating an allegation that illegal payments were made to police officers for information by a private investigation agency. All three men were being interviewed at a London police station on Monday.

The inquiry into the bribery scandal was launched after leaked invoices apparently showed that private investigators billed Ibori for information from police. One £5,000 payment was allegedly made to a source for information “on forthcoming strategy to be deployed by police”. The officers, who were alleged to have been hired by Mr Ibori to find out what information the UK Metropolitan police had on him, were working for a company known as RISC Management run by a former Scotland Yard Detective Keith Hunter. According to SKY News cable television report on Wednesday, RISC was hired by the law firm representing Mr Ibori.

It also quoted Mike Schwarz, a partner at Bindmans, a British Law Firm, as informing the Home Affairs Select Committee of the British parliament of possible cash payments made by RISC to sources who were “presumably police officers or those close to the investigation.” Mr Schwarz stated that invoices at the firm’s disposal showed roughly half a dozen payments amounting to about £20,000 over an eight or nine-month period.

What is Miley Cyrus wearing?-The Billboards Music Awards 2012

All these ladies look cool and predictable but Miley !what were you thinking wearing that?

I get it if you were performing on stage but to an award?

Question of the day? Do you have the right to hack into your hubby’s / wife’s or boyfriend/girlfriend’s phone?

Well this is the story that has led me to ask this question
A Nigerian customary court based in Ojo, a suburb of Lagos will decide 22 May whether to grant a divorce request by a couple, over accusations of adultery.

Forty-three year-old man, Mr Peter Ekundayo asked the Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Ojo to dissolve his marriage after confirming his wife’s adulterous act by hacking into her phone.

“When I became suspicious of Funmi, my wife, I decided to activate call monitoring on my wife’s phone through the help of a computer expert. Due to the call monitoring I activated, whenever my wife got an incoming call, mine would vibrate and then I just click to listen to her conversations on my phone. What I discovered almost made me take my life,” Ekundayo said.

The petitioner, who resides at Ajoke Bodunde Street, Ojo-Igbede, Lagos, has been married to Funmi for two years.
Ekundayo said his wife’s attitude changed since she got a job as sales representative in a fast food outfit located at Iyana-Isashi area of Lagos.

“My wife’s attitude has become intolerable for me; she is always bent on denying me my right of sexual intercourse with her. As soon as my wife got that job, I noticed that I no longer had any influence on her. Even sexual matters in our marriage gradually became a thing of the past,” he said

The petitioner said that he became suspicious of her activities especially as she usually crept out of bed at night to receive calls, which initially she never did.

Ekundayo said that he was shocked on one occasion when he heard his wife’s telephone conversation with their neighbour whom she was allegedly sleeping with. “During the conversation on phone, Funmi and that my neighbour both agreed to meet at a hotel around Afromedia, near Iyana-Isashi, after she closed from work.

I deliberately did go out of the house that evening so as to monitor when Funmi will return from work. She returned from work that day at about 10 p.m and claimed that a truck had fallen on the road which caused much traffic. I almost took my life when I realised the shameful acts of my wife in the short time we have been married,” Ekundayo said.

He said that he wanted a divorce because he was still young and did not want to die from any illness associated Funmi’s alleged sexual immorality.

Funmi declined to make any comment in response to the allegation levelled against her by the petitioner.

Bisola Animasaun, 25, a London-based fashion designer caught with3kg of cocaine

What? Do you think this was her first time doing this or this is the popularly saying ‘everyday is for the thief but one day is for the owner?

The other, Bisola Animasaun, 25, a London-based fashion designer, was allegedly nabbed with 3 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in packs of chocolates. She was arrested during screening of passengers on a British Airways flight to London. Thirty sachets of cocaine weighing 3kg were found inside two chocolates containers in her bag."  In a statement she made to the anti-narcotics agency, confessed to the crime. "This is a very big mistake on my part," she stated. "I hope I will be given the opportunity to right my wrongs. They promised me £3,000 to take the packs of chocolates. Apart from the financial inducement, I should have resisted the temptation. It is a mistake that will never happen again."

"Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Monday, arrested two women at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, for alleged drug trafficking.

One of the suspects, Faith Onuoha, a 24-year-old hair stylist, was allegedly caught with one kilogramme of methamphetamine hidden in her underwear. Onuoha also confessed to the crime, adding that she wanted to use the proceeds of the drug business to further her education.

"I am a hair dresser because I have no money to pursue my education," she said. "I completed my primary school in 2003 and wanted to use the proceeds from the drug business to further my education.” The NDLEA Lagos Airport Commander, Hamza Umar, said Onuoha was detected with the assistance of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

"I must commend the officials of FAAN for their support and cooperation," he said. "Onuoha wanted to take a local flight to Abuja where she will connect another flight to Malaysia but was caught at the local wing of the airport. She packed 750 grammes of methamphetamine in her bra and inner wear while 250 grammes were also ingested by her. Ahmadu Giade, the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, said the suspects would soon be charged to court.

"The officials that made the seizures and arrests must sustain their efforts in prompt interception of drugs," he said. "Drug traffickers, male or female, must be stopped from tarnishing the image of our country. I urge members of the public to collaborate with the agency in tracing drug barons.

We must stop them from the criminal trade and promote peaceful coexistence in our country.”

Mobile communication provider response to NCC over 1.17bn fine for poor network quality

Do you remember this post http://xpressurselfshow.blogspot.com/2012/05/nigeria-communications-commission-ncc.html that MTN,GLO,Etisalat are their reasons for poor network quality and they should pay fine of 1.17bn….this was the response from them with a joint statement;

We would like to assure customers of all four networks that we are committed to providing high quality of service to our customers. Over the last ten years more than N 1 trillion has been invested in building and enhancing the four mobile networks. In 2012 alone, the four operators will be spending over N 400 billion of further investments in their networks. All four operators are actively competing with each other on quality of service to win the loyalty of existing customers and attract new customers.
We are all equally frustrated and concerned about the failures to meet customer expectations and needs with respect to the quality of service. Nigeria deserves and needs first class telecommunications networks. We thus apologise unreservedly to you, our customers, for those occasions when you have been disappointed or inconvenienced by a lapse or failure to deliver the requisite level of quality of service. We however believe that it is necessary to explain the major challenges we face as operators and ask for your understanding and support.

By the time you are done reading...do you agree with me on this? In all fairness MTN, Airtel, Globacom & Etisalat release Joint Statement  is 100% correct when they said that the fines which NCC had asked them to pay will not bring about the desired service quality except the power supply problem in this nation is solved.

The main factor affecting quality of service is the absence of a reliable source of power.

Every single site is powered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by two diesel Generators and requires regular supply of diesel as well as 24hours security protection. We need to recognise that benchmarking quality of service against countries which are not operating in such an environment is unrealistic.

The second major factor affecting network quality are frequent cuts of fibre networks which link the cell sites. These are frequently malicious in nature. Recently, operators have asked that Telecommunications Infrastructure be declared “Critical National Infrastructure” which would result in enhanced protection for these assets and criminalize the wilful damage of the same.

Another equally worrying development is the recent trend towards indiscriminate closure of sites by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal, State and Local Governments in pursuit of multiple taxation of telecommunications infrastructure. Finally, the issue of security is a prevalent threat from our operating environment.

We have had particularly unfortunate instances where our employees have been physically assaulted and in some instances killed during site maintenance visit, all in a quest to sustain service quality. We wish to use this medium to call on the NCC, the National Environment Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, the Minister of Communication Technology, the National Assembly and the Office of the National Security Adviser to work in harmony to put in place an environment in which we can continue our substantial investments in pursuit of delivering world class telecommunications networks. While we continue to make these investments which will also improve service quality, it needs to be pointed out that in the telecommunications industry, such investments do not yield the requisite improvement in service quality until well after 12 months.

We are therefore concerned that fines will not bring about the desired service quality improvements or offer a lasting solution but will merely deplete essential resources that would otherwise be deployed for network roll out. Also, due to capital-intensive nature of our operators, we are concerned that a regime of sanctions will inevitably erode the confidence of financial institutions and critical partners in the industry. We are also concerned that it could create an atmosphere of anxiety and regulatory uncertainty which is unattractive to investment. We are therefore actively engaging with our Regulator to resolve this issue.

Solutions being explored include ensuring a forward-looking quality of service framework, taking into account pertinent environmental factors affecting service delivery and preserving the capacity of the industry to attract the requisite levels of investment in infrastructure to meet stakeholder expectations. Nigeria deserves and needs world class telecommunications networks. No sector in Nigeria has seen more progress than the telecommunications sector.
We ask for the understanding of all stakeholders as we continue to invest and build the networks to the benefit of all Nigerians.

Dider Drogba strikes while the iron is hot-He leaves Chelsea

Drogba says,’ I won it all; having won the Champions League, now is the right time to leave Chelsea.

What a humble man, this was part of his speech “trying to save lives and reduce poverty” with his UN work. “I have to say thanks to my parents for the way they educated me and also to my friends – my real friends. They never see me as a star.”
Well said, but you leave England as a champion of Europe. Thumps up Drogba!

Will his leaving affect the club in anyway….even if it is teeny weeny bit?

Research proves that one-third of malaria drugs ‘are fake’

This is not good news at all…so what have we been taking into our system? Eh msh! Sometimes I read or post some news and I just want to slap these people that endanger someone’s health upside the head…I say STOP! That’s somebody’s life we are talking about here…apart from what one goes through, the time and money that the person had spent buying these drugs and missing out in daily activities…you now  hear the drugs are fake..Huh?

A third of malaria drugs used around the world to stem the spread of the disease are counterfeit, data from The Lancet Infectious Diseases research suggests.

Researchers who looked at 1,500 samples of seven malaria drugs from seven countries in South East Asia say poor-quality and fake tablets are causing drug resistance and treatment failure. Data from 21 countries in sub-Saharan Africa including over 2,500 drug samples showed similar results. Experts sayThe Lancet Infectious Diseases research research is a “wake-up call”.

The US researchers from the Fogarty International Center at the National Institutes of Health who carried out the work believe the problem may even be much greater than data suggests. “Most cases are probably unreported, reported to the wrong agencies, or kept confidential by pharmaceutical companies,” say the researchers.

No large studies of drug quality have been carried out in China or India – countries that house a third of the world’s population and are a “probable” source of many counterfeit drugs as well as genuine antimalarial medicines, they say. Lead researcher Gaurvika Nayyar stressed that 3.3 billion people were at risk of malaria, which is classified as endemic in 106 countries. “Between 655,000 and 1.2 million people die every year from Plasmodium falciparum infection,” he said. “Much of this morbidity and mortality could be avoided if drugs available to patients were efficacious, high quality, and used correctly.”

In parts of the world where malaria is prevalent, antimalarial drugs are widely distributed and self-prescribed, both correctly and incorrectly, say the researchers. The study found there are insufficient facilities to monitor the quality of antimalarial drugs and poor consumer and health-worker knowledge about the therapies. And there is a lack of regulatory oversight of manufacturing and little punitive action for counterfeiters.

Despite this, malaria mortality rates have fallen by more than 25% globally since 2000, and by 33% in the WHO African Region. But the World Health Organization says maintaining current rates of progress will not be enough to meet global targets for malaria control.

It is calling for renewed investment in diagnostic testing, treatment, and surveillance for malaria.

Nigeria’s First Transgender Man becomes 1st Runner up Miss International Queen Beauty pageant

He has not had sex-reassignment surgery down there,in other words he is guy……hmmm! There are some posts that I’m short for words to comment…but if you have any comment on this topic….by all means lets have it.

The Miss International Queen Pagent is a pageant for transgenders from around the world to present their individual beauty and intelligence in a friendly atmosphere.
Miss Sahhara also known by his legal name Oche  lives in  UK. He is a transgender man,who was born male . He took part in the Miss International Queen beauty pageant which is strictly for transgenders last year. And he did extremely well , where he came 1st Runner Up.
Not since Agbani Darego took home the Miss World crown in 2001 has Nigeria done so well in an international beauty pageant.

According to Ebuka Obi Uchendu’s tweets about him, “he was quite popular a few years ago in Abuja where he lived in an openly feminine manner.”

IG advocates N50,000 minimum wages for policemen

One of the commentate said “It is better to embark on serious criminal background & mental checkup b4 recruiting the police @ all level& not until u stop recruiting criminals into the police nothing will stop them from crimes.” May I also add that the new and old police men should go for few months counseling since this bribery has taken its toll on them……What’s your take on this?

The Acting Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has advocated a N50, 000 minimum wage for a constable in the police force, saying such will go a long way to boost morale and promote efficiency.
The acting IG, who was on his first official visit to Lagos State on Monday, said he had already made proposal to the Federal Government and making a “serious representation” for the actualisation of the new salary structure for the police.

He said apart from salary, other welfare packages like housing, training, mortgage policy and efficient cooperative society were being restructured to make sure that every policeman benefitted.

He said, “We have started with the 500 housing unit in Abuja. The Rank and File will benefit from the housing policy first because they are the men on the field during the rain and the sun. I will pay attention to the Rank and File.”

Abubakar warned his men to henceforth stop any form of harassment of journalists and other Nigerians, saying if reports were made, culprits would face the law. He, however, urged them to protect their stations and other public building. Abubakar said, “The era of attacking police station or government building is over.

Anybody who attacks such is dead; you should not allow him to go. You must defend yourselves and you must defend government property.” Earlier at Governor Babatunde Fashola’s office, Abubarkar said 50,000 policemen would soon go on course to boost response capacity to security challenges and crisis management. According to him, 16,000 policemen out of the 50,000 will go for intelligence training, while 10,000 will go for detective training.

He added that the newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Police were undergoing a two week management course in Lagos. Abubakar said following the dismantling of road blocks, the police had ordered for 300 patrol vehicles to be deployed in all the major roads in the country for effective policing and safety of the people on highways.

Governor Babatunde Fashola in his response, commended the leadership of the present police administration for its commitment to ensuring the security of lives and properties of residents. He said: “Nothing will have meaning until we intensify law and order. My position is that if more people comply with the law, more people will benefit.”
