Ebola Virus Disease in Africa
The Ebola virus as of April 5, the World Health Organisation, WHO, reported 127 cases of Ebola, of whom 86 people have died in Guinea. The current wave of outbreak is believed to have originated from that country. As of this date, Liberia has reported six suspected cases, two confirmed deaths. On April 3, Mali reported three suspected cases. Sierra Leone has equally reported possible cases although WHO has reported no confirmations.One EVD reported in Ghana

-Its a viral disease that has no cure and no vaccine
- Affects mostly Africans - It kills very fast -It is transmitted by direct contact with infected blood or body fluid or via reuse of infested hospital injections
-Symptoms of infection includes fever with chills, joint pain, muscle pain, and chest pain,abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, respiratory tract disorder such as sore throat, cough, hiccups, impaired circulatory system symptomology, discharge of blood from nose, vagina, gingiva(gum), rash all over the body.
- It takes 13 days for the symptoms to manifest after contacting the virus. -Prevention is first by Quarantine, that is, the separation of infected person from the public to forestall the spread of their infected body fluid and blood. Animal products such as meat should be thoroughly cooked before consumption. Constant washing of hands after each activity, avoiding eating of fruits without washing, as well as non consumption of fruits that have been eaten by bats

A woman with her children electrocuted
Tragic,"Around
2am, I was by the balcony of my house when I saw a wire spark. The wire then
fell on some wood and caught fire. The fire spread to the tyre of a Toyota car.
The Toyota car had some jerry cans of petrol inside it and when the fire got to
it, the vehicle exploded in front of house number six.
"Some of the occupants of the house, who were trying to
run for their lives, passed the back of the house and came out through the
front of house number eight.”
They mistakenly stepped on parts of the
wire and were electrocuted.
“The pregnant woman (Mrs Ameh) and her daughter were
electrocuted by the wire. However, I quickly pulled away Jonathan, their son,
and he survived.
“Three other residents, Basheet, Iya Fatimah and her
daughter were also electrocuted.”
About an hour later, electricity
officials disconnected power from the affected lines.
