Patience Jonathan is Battling Parkinson’s Disease, really?

SaharaReporters broke the news that Mrs. Jonathan was flown to a hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany close to a month ago to undergo emergency treatment after a botched procedure in Dubai.

In interviews with three sources familiar with Mrs. Jonathan’s health status, SaharaReporters learnt that the Nigerian president’s wife is beset by Parkinson’s disease, a degenerative syndrome. The disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system. A medical source described it as “a fairly common disorder that occasions degeneration of the nervous system.” The source added that the disease leads to “progressive impairment and disorder of movement.”

An online medical site notes that Parkinson’s “is characterized by progressive loss of muscle control, which leads to trembling of the limbs and head while at rest, stiffness, slowness, and impaired balance. As symptoms worsen, it may become difficult to walk, talk, and complete simple tasks.”

The bombshell revelation about the First Lady’s medical woes was first made by a source familiar with Mrs. Jonathan’s previous secret treatments in Spain and Italy. The source disclosed that Mrs. Jonathan had battled Parkinson’s for some years now. In addition, doctors had advised her to “do something urgent about her morbid body mass index (BMI),” said the source.

She added that Mrs. Jonathan had indeed considered undergoing the kind of tummy tuck procedure that former Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha once had. Two other sources close to the Jonathans confirmed that the First Lady has been dogged by Parkinson’s. One said the disease was largely responsible for her clumsiness, drawling speech and slow movement at public events. He added that Mrs. Jonathan has been suffering serious trembling in the left hand.

“That’s why she always uses her right to hold the microphone when speaking at public events,” the source revealed. Mrs. Jonathan also reportedly is affected by stiffness of the limbs and trunk which affects her movement. A news staffer at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Jonathan’s aides warned reporters covering her never to film her beyond her waist. “Her senior personal assistant told the crew covering her long ago: ‘Don’t ever film Madam’s waist. Show her face only.’ That’s been the code at NTA.” Two other sources stated that Mrs. Jonathan had made efforts to slow the disease that had started to ravage her.

“She has been visiting a health farm in Italy on a regular basis since 2010,” one source revealed. “To alleviate her pain, she has been taking her medication religiously.” A friend of Mrs. Jonathan’s said that the First Lady’s health maladies include anxiety, occasional memory loss and disorientation.

In addition, her blood pressure often rises to dangerous levels, forcing her to take a cocktail of anti-hypertensive drugs. Also, sources said that some officials attached to the First Lady’s office described her as constantly depressed, prone to snapping at people at the slightest provocation.

“The First Lady can just get angry at the slightest provocation and rain abuses at anybody in sight,” he said. As happened during the health crisis of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the Nigerian Presidency’s reaction to Mrs. Jonathan’s health condition is to be mum.

When SaharaReporters contacted a senior aide of President Jonathan on the matter of the First Lady’s illness, he sharply said, “I’m not saying anything. And please don’t mention that you spoke to me.”

SaharaReporters learnt that officials of the Presidency are under a virtual oath of secrecy on the issue of Mrs. Jonathan’s health crisis.

The Hong Kong businessman has offered a $65 million “marriage bounty” to any man who can win the heart of his lesbian daughter.

Cecil Chao announced the financial reward of HK$500 million after his daughter, Gigi, married her same-sex partner of seven years in France earlier this year, the South China Morning Post reported.

Court case -“My wife denied me of sex, yet she flirts around”

A woman,33, on Tuesday pleaded with the grade ‘A ‘ Customary Court, Agege, Lagos to dissolve her 12-year-old marriage over threat to life and frequent beating.

The petitioner, Adesuwa Oluwalere, who lives at 18b, Kayode Joseph St.,Powerline, Oke- ira, Ogba, told the court that her husband had made love to her in the presence of her mother.

“My husband had wanted to make love to me in the presence of our children but I refused. He then beat me mercilessly to the extent of removing one of my teeth.

“If my husband has money, he won’t give me and the children, he prefers to go to the club and declare surplus and when the money is finished, he comes home to steal my money, ” .

The mother of three children, aged between 5 and 10 years, also added that her husband used to tell their children that she was sleeping around. ”We live in one room but my husband won’t wait till mid night when our children will be asleep before drawing my pants.

” My husband started going to white garment church since April and so he brings home different colours of candle, he told me that his priest said he should throw me out of the house. ” He left the church we were both going because he accused me of going out with our pastor and I am fed up with all of this behaviour, ” she said.

Adesuwa told the court that she wanted the marriage to be dissolved and also wanted the custody of the children. In response, Ibukun, 39, denied some of the allegations. ”My wife flirts with different men, she even goes to the extent of sending money and recharge cards to them from my money.

” I traced her to where she was going one day and saw her entering an hotel, the man she was going to meet had already waited for her. “She, however, told me she was going to night vigil in the church. When she came back the next morning, I saw that her pant was wet with sperm.

So, why won’t I beat her? ”I saw a lot of love text messages on her phone, and the account number of one of her lovers and the one she sent to him that she had paid the money. ”She has denied me sex since April because she goes about sleeping with different men, whereas I don’t have a girl friend, ” he said.

Ibukun also told the court that if his wife was ready to reconcile with him, she had to be three month pregnant for him. ”I told her in April that I still want a fourth child and she denied me access to herself.

I am ready to take her back if she agrees to my terms,” he said.

In his ruling the Court President, Mr Emmanuel Sokunle told the couple to go back home and call their families for settlement. “Maintain the peace while you are on reconciliation moves,” he advised. He then adjourned the case to Oct. 22, for further hearing.

Man pours hot water from burning stove on his wife

The suspect, who trailed his wife to Ijoko in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria where she had gone to assist her husband’s younger brother’s wife who had just put to bed a set of twins, was alleged to have committed the crime when his wife returned to Iju area of Ishaga, Lagos State from Ijoko

On her hospital bed at Ogba, Lagos State, the victim, Mrs. Oluwakemi Fowowe, said she left her husband and father of her three children, when his trouble and that of his mother became unbearable for her.

“I was at the passage facing outside not knowing that my husband had sneaked through the back door and the next thing I heard was a loud noise as he threw both the burning stove and a pot of hot water on me.

“My body caught fire and I ran outside, shouting for help before people assisted me in putting out the fire. I became unconscious before I was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors battled to revive me.

I want all well-meaning Nigerians to come to my aid as I have no one to help me,’’she moaned in pains Oladimeji was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police at Iju Police Station, where he was detained but he was later granted bail.
