Yakubu Adesokan wins gold medal for Paralympic’s power lifting…smashing the world record

Yakubu Adesokan has won Nigeria’s first gold medal at the on-going London Paralympic games. Adesokan smashed the world record in power lifting 48 kg weight categories lifting 180 kg to set Nigeria on the path of glory.

Federal government approves $11m for condoms and family planning

According to report, N11.5million has been approved for the procurement of family planning commodities such as condoms and contraceptives to reduce maternal mortality rate, the government proclaimed that reproductive health commodities and family planning commodities like condoms and implants to be made free.”

“So the government along with the partners made a forecast as to what we need in the country and contributed $3millio in 2011 through a Memorandum of Understanding which we implemented.”

The fire began about 6.40pm Nigerian time but the Lagos State fire service arrived the scene without water waited for more than one hour and watched while the fire razed the whole building before other agencies including NEMA arrived with water tankers to put out the fire.
Items destroyed at wood-padded clinic include patient documents, laptops belonging to doctors, medical equipments and other electronic gadgets including air conditioning units.
There are no casualties according to hospital personnel and emergency official, however, a fire service worker was seriously injured and hospitalized.
According to report A plumber in the teaching hospital who helped carry water to quell the fire said an electric spark might have caused the fire.

Newsflash- Fire outbreak in LUTH

LUTH on fire, Apin clinic and children emergence clinic,  patients were confirmed stuck in  wards,this occurred  late hours of yesterday.

  

LUTH ( Lagos State University Teaching Hospital) Idi Araba, and that some of the patients were trapped inside the wards..the goodnews is that the fire has been put out and the bad news is that it burnt one of the building completely..

Thankfully there were no casualties confirmed yet

The building that was razed down was the  HIV Initiaitive APIN clinic.... (APIN is an outpatient clinic that specializes in treatment of people with HIV/AIDS. Lots of data and drugs for HIV positive patients have been destroyed.
