So many people say it’s a miracle : "I was not speeding..I just found myself in the water"-Man who plunged over 3rd mainland Bridge speaks

The traffic officials said he was over-speeding ,Mr Olusola Oladimeji, the driver and owner of the Toyota Sienna said he wasn't.
The father of three who is a minister of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, said he was on his way home from work when the incident occurred. He narrated his experience to Punch:
“I work on the island and I left home for a meeting in the early hours of Saturday. After the monthly environmental sanitation, I started driving back home. I was driving at the speed of 60km/hr and was on the fast lane because the road was free. At Ebute Meta bypass, I saw two vehicles that had been involved in an accident but I kept on driving. Suddenly, everything went blank, I couldn’t see anything again, and I just found myself in the water.”

He did not lose consciousness in the water and as such, he unfastened the seat belt and swam towards a ray of light. “I was not on high speed. When the car hit the railing of the bridge, the airbag was not released. After falling into the water, I unfastened the seat belt and noticed that one of the doors of my car had broken off, so I swam out of the vehicle to the surface of the water even though I don’t know how to swim.

It was while I was waving my hand that fishermen saw me and quickly came to my aid. They took me away from the scene and took me to a clinic located on the water where they administered the first aid.” Oladimeji was later taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where an X-ray scan was conducted on him.

Although his leg was not fractured, it was cast with Plaster of Paris because he had a sprain. When Punch visited his home, members of his church were seen coming to felicitate with him. One of them, Praise Onanuga, a pastor at MFM, Berkeley Parish, said the victim had just bought the car eight days before the accident. “He bought the car just eight days before the accident and we were supposed to do the dedication today (Sunday) but we thank God that we were not put to shame. We will hold a thanksgiving for him soon because this is a miracle.”

'Cut my hand now I can't play with two hands at the grammys.' -Chris Brown and Frank Ocean -Huge Fight at Recording Studio

This is not the first time the two singers have been involved in conflict.
Last July, Brown was forced to deny aiming a homophobic slur towards Ocean when asked his opinion on the star.
According to TMZ, Sunday night,Brown went to leave the studio but 'was blocked by Frank Ocean and his crew.'
Sources told the website that Ocean said: 'This is my studio, this is my parking spot,' adding that Brown 'went to shake Ocean's hand when he was 'attacked by one of Frank's people.'
An insider connected with Brown claimed one of the singer's friends 'jumped in front and hit Frank's head.'
Ocean then 'came at Chris. Chris pushed him away and they started brawling,' sources added.
Police have cleared the scene though

74 passengers escape air crash, after Abuja-bound plane develops fault 15 minutes after take-off

Another Air Disaster was averted on Sunday in Lagos as an Abuja-bound aircraft made a dramatic return to Lagos when one of its engines developed a mechanical fault mid-air.
On board the aircraft which belongs to Med-View Airline were 73 passengers including Mr. Donald Ojogo, the newly appointed Politics Editor, Abuja, of the Independent Newspapers Limited, publishers of Daily Independent, Saturday Independent and Sunday Independent.
The Lagos-Abuja bound flight, VL2104, scheduled for 12 noon on Sunday had taken off at exactly 12.15 pm, 15 minutes behind schedule

But at exactly 12.30, about five minutes after the seat belt signs were put off, there was a loud bang at the engine side of the aircraft forcing it to drop in altitude even as it became unstable, swerving slowly and steadily in left and right directions for about two minutes.

The development elicited instant prayers, wailings and cries from the passengers, most of whom were women with the silence of the Aircraft Crew, especially the Pilot, further heightening tension in the plane.

Kiss club fire: Death toll hits record 245

At least 245 people died early Sunday when a fire tore through a nightclub packed with university students in the southern Brazilian city of Santa Maria.
The death toll from the inferno rapidly increased as firefighters searched the charred remains of the “Kiss” club, believed to have been packed with 300-400 revelers at the time of the blaze.

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff cut short a visit to Chile, where she was attending a European and Latin American summit, to head to Santa Maria and oversee the response to the tragedy.
The fire started at about 2 a.m. A stampede ensued immediately as party goers pushed and shoved each other to escape.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, officials said. A police spokesman told a radio station that a truck carrying 70 bodies arrived at the Municipal Sports Center, which they used as an improvised morgue.

African referees have ganged up to eliminate Nigeria - NFF Fires CAF

Livid with rage over the questionable officiating against Nigeria at the on-going African Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has fired a protest letter to the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

Technical Committee Chairman of the NFF, Barrister Chris Green confirmed that they have protested to CAF to look into the questionable calls by referees in the two matches so far played by Nigeria.

“We’ve registered our protest to CAF. The whole thing is annoying”, Green said at the Stay Easy hotel abode of the NFF.

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi had complained about the poor officiating that saw the Eagles receive five yellow cards and one red card in their first match against Burkina Faso which ended 1-1. And in the second match, what seemed like a penalty for Nigeria against Zambia was denied when Ahmed

Musa was viciously hacked down inside the box. Not only that, the Egyptian referee that officiated the match against Zambia murdered sleep when he awarded a questionable penalty against Nigeria to allow the defending Champions share the spoil at the end of proceedings. Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama was so pained that he described the penalty award as ‘bizarre’. “That is the worst penalty call I’ve ever since in my life. It’s bizarre.

It’s a weak call and I’m mad about it”, the ordinarily quiet goaltender boiled. Keshi summed it up when he said that “I want people to look through the replay and judge if indeed it was a penalty”. South African TVs have been replaying the penalty call to show that the call was indeed bizarre with many soccer fans criticizing the level of officiating at the Nations Cup.

21-year-old Nigerian hangs himself in UK over fear of deportation

An inquest into the death of a Nigerian detainee, Riliwanu Balogun who was found hanged at a Young Offender’s Institute in the UK a day after his 21st birthday in 2011 has revealed he killed himself because he feared being sent back to Nigeria.

According to a BBC Report, Balogun moved to the UK when he was seven years old and spent much of his childhood in institutions.

A senior prison officer, Paul Mayfield said at the hearing that he was scared of being deported back to Nigeria. “He told me he had nothing to live for. He said ‘I’ll be deported back to Nigeria. I’ve got no-one back there. I’ll be living in the slums’.”

BBC reports. In April 2011, Balogun was transferred to Glen Parva Young Offender’s Institute in Leicester, which holds men aged 18 to 21. But on May 8, 2011, he was found hanged in his cell. The morning he was found hanged, he was assessed by staff after cutting himself. It was reported that he was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary after staff tried to revive him but died a week later.

The hearing also revealed he had a string of previous convictions and that at the end of April he struggled to speak to a nurse because he was sobbing so hard. It’s really shocking to hear such news which speaks very little of the living standards and quality of life here in Nigeria.

He was only 21 and killed himself because he feared being deported back to Nigeria, a place where he knew no one and would probably live in the slums.

May his soul rest in peace.
