Pastors With Private Jets An Embarrassment To Christianity - Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese

The acquisition of private jets by Christian leaders diminishes the moral voice of the church in the fight against corruption, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev Matthew Kukah, declared yesterday.

He spoke against the backdrop of the presentation of a private jet to the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, by members of his church during the celebration of his 40th anniversary in the ministry penultimate Saturday.

Kukah, who was guest speaker at the annual Founder’s Day Anniversary lecture of Providence Baptist Church in Lagos, described exhibition of such opulence by church leaders as embarrassing. The fiery cleric who spoke on ‘Church and the state in the pursuit of the common good’, said: “The stories of corrupt men and women being given recognition by their churches or mosques as gallant sons and daughters and the embarrassing stories of pastors displaying conspicuous wealth as we hear from the purchases of private jets and so on clearly diminish our moral voice.”

Kukah, who was represented by the Administrator of Holy Cross Cathedral Lagos, Rev. Monsignor Pascal Nwaezeapu, also expressed displeasure with the perceived closeness of the CAN leadership to the corridors of powers. He said such alliance will weaken the ability of the church to speak the truth to elected public office holders.

According to him: “CAN has become more visible in relation to national prayer sessions, pilgrimages, alliances with state power and so on. “Unless we distance ourselves, we cannot speak the truth to power. We cannot hear the wails of the poor and the weak. We should not be seen as playing the praying wing of the party in power.”

He challenged the church to speak against corruption in low and high places, saying such responsibility must never be jettisoned for any reason. Apart from Orisejafor, other church leaders who own private jets include Founder of Living Faith Ministries, Bishop David Oyedepo; General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye; Founder of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo and Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy Church.

A father who has been raping his daughter for years

The teenager had been sexually abused by Hawksworth since the age of 14, but had remained silent until the rape last year, when she reported the crime to the police.
The 18-year-old, whose parents divorced when she was seven, has now waived her right to anonymity to bravely speak out about her ordeal to help other teenagers in similar situations.

'When I woke up in the morning I felt sick and I felt like something had happened,' said Emily, who was a virgin until the horrifying attack. 'I felt violated.
The daughter's picture after the cut:

'I stayed in bed all day and on the Sunday he kept asking me to go to town with him and make me take the Pill. 'I refused to take it because I did not want to believe what had happened.' I was blunt with him and I didn't want the conversation to be brought up. 'When I went home on the Sunday night, I wasn't going to say anything to my mum but as soon as I walked in I burst into tears. 'She knew something had happened so I told her. She was distraught and rang the police.' On Wednesday Hawksworth, who denied rape and sexual assault, was caged for nine years after a trial at Derby Crown Court. Emily said she had not initially reported what had happened because she felt scared. 'I was young at the time,' she said. 'I did not know how to handle it.

' Hawksworth, from Findern, Derbyshire, denied raping his daughter when he was arrested, forcing her to give evidence at his trial. Jailing him, Judge John Burgess told Hawksworth: 'She was visiting you as she regularly did for the weekend. 'During the course of that Friday evening you and she were drinking both wine and cider, alcohol you provided. 'She became very drunk and was very sick. You tended to her and she was put to bed. 'During the night you came into her room, removed her underwear and had full sex. 'She was a virgin until that happened. This was a gross breach of trust and the violation of a vulnerable girl.' Hawksworth split up with Emily's mother in 2001 after he subjected her to an 'extremely abusive' relationship, the court heard.

Today Emily's mother Karen Atalay, 53, described her daughter's ordeal as 'terrible and heart-breaking'. She said: 'I felt quite guilty. I felt it was my fault. 'My marriage to him [Robert] was extremely abusive but I was too frightened to tell anybody anything. 'I'm relieved that at last we have some justice. 'We have all found it very hard to lead a normal life. 'I think we have got through the worst but we are just trying to come to terms with what has happened. 'Emily, who burnt all photographs and gifts given to her by Hawksworth, is having her surname changed by deed poll in a bid to wipe away any trace of her father.

Man's penis removed after Penis enlargement

The 50-year-old man, whose genitals were removed this week after he reported a severe infection, underwent several olive oil injections over a number of years, a spokeswoman for the Bangkok-based Police General Hospital said.
He was diagnosed with cancer prompting the drastic surgery.

“This is the biggest (genital) surgery we have ever done as we found cancer”, Sirikul Jiaranaikhajorn said, adding normally the two or three patients they treat each week suffer from infections only but there is no evidence that the procedure causes cancer.

The man had the injections done at a clinic and was accompanied by friends, she added, despite public warnings that such penis enlargement methods are highly risky. “It only brings bad results — people misunderstand (that it works),” the spokeswoman said, explaining men attempt the procedure after listening to friends.

“A woman will love a man not because of the size,” she added.

The risky and unproven method using the oil —  bees wax, silicone and even paraffin are often also used — is common in Thailand with one Bangkok hospital receiving about 40 patients a month concerned about side-effects.

Reaction of protesters over banning nudity

A group of nude protesters marched to their courthouse on Wednesday to file a lawsuit against the city and county of San Francisco.

They aim to stop city leaders from passing a law which would stop them appearing naked in public.
Under the law a first-time citation for nudity would mean a fine of up to $100. A second instance could lead to a $200 fine, while a third means a fine of up to $500 and the possibility of a year in prison.

The nudists say the proposed law violate their right to freedom of speech. Scott Wiener, a city supervisor representing the Castro District, introduced the proposal which would stop backsides and genitals being exposed in public.

Exempt from the law would be naked breasts and children under five, as well as events permitted by the city – including the annual gay pride parade. Former stripper turned stay-at-home mother of three, Gypsy Taub, is a plaintiff in the case. She also hosts a television show called ‘My Naked Truth’ on which both she and her guests go unclothed. The 43-year-old said: ‘Being naked is a birth-given freedom, not a crime.’ At a public hearing related to the new law on November 5 Ms Taub stripped while speaking and was led away by security.

Mr Wiener introduced the ordinance in October and said that nudity had caused a lot of anger and frustration in San Francisco. ‘We’ve always had random and sporadic public nudity in San Francisco, and no one had a problem with that,’ he said. ‘In the last two years, things have changed. In the Castro, in particular, we now have men who take their clothes off and hang out every day of the week, and that has caused a lot of anger and frustration in the neighborhood.’

‘The city is trying to legislate against the naturalness of the naked body, and that is wrong,’ said George Davis, 66, another plaintiff. Mr Davis, who runs a website for ‘urban nudists’, has campaigned naked while running unsuccessfully for mayor and city supervisor in recent years and estimates he spends 120 days a year naked in public. ‘I’d go more, but I get uncomfortable if it’s too cold or foggy,’ he explained. ‘Nude is not lewd,’ Mr Davis added. ‘That is our mantra.’ Christina DiEdoardo, the group’s lawyer, said: ‘The city is overstepping its authority. ‘The act of being naked is not enough to be obscene or indecently exposed under California law.’

The board of supervisors will vote on the measure next week but the nudists asked for a preliminary injunction to stop the law being implemented if it is passed until after their claims that it violates their rights are considered by a judge. One law which was passed last year saw nude citizens having to place a barrier, a towel for example, between their bare backsides and any public seats.

Five Nigerians in Malaysia arrested for fraud

Peter Oyewor- jailed for 6 years
Malaysian police authorities have arrested a group of five Nigerians using the country as base of fraudulent operations, against foreigners.

On Friday in Nilai  several months of intelligence gathering and investigations, Malaysia’s NewStraitsTimes has reported online, the country’s Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said the syndicate was believed to have cheated various victims abroad of RM1.86 million.

The syndicate’s modus operandi had been to advertise the sale of surgical gloves on the Internet using the masthead of a well-known Malaysian firm, which had a global reputation in the industry.
“The syndicate had altered the contact details to differ from that of the original company as they planned to cash in on the firm’s reputation and standing in the global glove making industry,” said Syed Ismail.

“The surgical gloves offered by the syndicate were significantly cheaper than the current market prices. Victims from countries like Libya, Romania, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan were intrigued by the discounted prices.” It is understood that contact between the victims and syndicate members were through the phone or emails. Once an order had been placed, a downpayment of between 10 and 30 per cent of the total value was required. “The money was transferred into local bank accounts here and withdrawn immediately by the syndicate members.

However, the order never reached the victims abroad, prompting them to lodge reports at Malaysian embassies and commissions,” said Syed Ismail. Before long, Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, known also as Wisma Putra, was inundated with complaints from their embassies abroad. It is learnt that as of Nov 12, police had a total of 49 complaints from individuals and corporate firms abroad. Investigations revealed that the five men had entered Malaysia on student visas. When they were arrested, police seized numerous mobile phones, laptops and modems in the raid.

The five have been remanded until Nov 20 to facilitate investigations. In a separate case, police also arrested eight Nigerians, aged between 22 and 28, at two locations in Subang Jaya on Oct 31 and Nov 1 for credit card fraud which cost banks thousands of ringgit in losses. “The suspects had cooperated with another African syndicate which provided credit card details, including the three digit security code.

They paid US$20 (RM60) for every successful card detail,” said Syed Ismail. He said, with the credit card information, the syndicate then made online purchases such as branded handbags and electronic items. Meanwhile in the United Kingdom, a 50 year old Nigeria, Peter Oyewor has been sentenced to six years in prison for money laundering £1.4 million over a three year period. Oyewor, 50, of Grieves Road was found guilty of transferring money which had been sent from across the world through his agencies.

He was in the middle of a circle of fraudsters, and was used for transferring the bulk of the funds to Nigeria. He operated as an agent for Western Union in Manor Road, Gravesend and a Moneygram store in Woolwich during his years of money laundering. Mr Oyewor used copies of false documents to deceive customers that attended his premises, and between February and October 2009, undertook 63 transactions to the value of £104,000, Kentnews.co.uk reported. “Genuine documents were only used in two of these transactions, and when found out Moneygram closed its agency. “Between July 2007 and September 2010, he operated as Abmec Logistics in Woolwich, and received £1.4 million in transfers from overseas – of which £1.25 million was obtained using false ID.

“Mr Oyewor was arrested following an investigation by the Serious Economic Crime Unit of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate. “As he sentenced the 50-year-old, Judge Jeremy Carey said Peter Oyewor had “been convicted on the clearest evidence of money laundering”. “He added: “This case is in the high end of the bracket of serious offences of this kind.” “Detective Sergeant Adrian Brown, who led the investigation, said: “Oyewor was not the fraudster but did play a significant role by laundering the funds. People were tricked through a variety of methods, from dating scams to renting property that didn’t exist. “In two instances people believed they were paying expenses incurred by girlfriends who they intended to travel to live with them, but in fact they had been conned out of thousands. “The money was largely taken from people in the USA and Australia but we also identified victims in Mongolia, Russia, Ireland, Malaysia, Israel and Germany.

“Without Oyewor’s input the fraudsters would have been unable to have taken advantage of their victims, he was an important part of the process.”

31-Year-Old Man Bites Off Police Officer's Nipple

On November 13, Dhlomo Mduduzi allegedly attacked Njanji a policeman, according to what went down

"The suspect, who had been arrested for disorderly conduct, refused to give police officers his name for the purposes of processing a fine. Njanji, who was in the charge office at that time, tried to force Mduduzi to submit his name, but he got angry and attacked the officer, biting him on the chest," read the State outline.

Mduduzi, who appeared in court Thursday, pleaded guilty to assaulting the policeman and biting off his nipple, but said he was unaware that he was attacking a policeman since Njanji was not in uniform.

More detail on the accident on Otedola Bridge/Lagos –Ibadan expressway

Two days ago I posted this, more details have been revealed, four people have been found dead

Mr Bisi Kazeem, Deputy Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the vehicles involved in the accident include an articulated lorry, a fuel tanker, a truck and at least two saloon cars.

“We do not have access to other affected vehicles yet. “Efforts are still on to shift the truck and the tanker so as to remove the vehicles trapped under them,” Kazeem said. He said the Lagos-Ibadan half of the expressway was partially blocked by the tanker and the truck. “All relevant agencies are on ground trying to remove affected vehicles and restore normalcy.

“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) is setting up floodlights while men of the fire service are blanketing the area,” Kazeem said. “We are advising motorists to exercise patience and obey traffic officials at the scene. They should follow the diversion and avoid hopping lanes in order not to compound the congestion,” he said.

The Poorest President

Meet Jose Mujica he is from  Uruguay and he is the poorest president in the world:

This austere lifestyle – and the fact that Mujica donates about 90% of his monthly salary, equivalent to $12,000 (£7,500), to charity – has led him to be labelled the poorest president in the world. “I may appear to be an eccentric old man… But this is a free choice.

I’ve lived like this most of my life,” he says, sitting on an old chair in his garden, using a cushion favoured by Manuela the dog. “I can live well with what I have.” His charitable donations – which benefit poor people and small entrepreneurs – mean his salary is roughly in line with the average Uruguayan income of $775 (£485) a month.

All the president’s wealth is a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle. In 2010, his annual personal wealth declaration – mandatory for officials in Uruguay – was $1,800 (£1,100), the value of his 1987 Volkswagen Beetle.

He dreams of becoming a doctor

This is Vhuhwavho Ravhuhali who unfortunatelynever lived a normal life, with his right hand getting swollen by the day and always in pain
For 10 years poor Vhu, aged 13, has watched his arm become more and more swollen and elongated until today it hangs painfully by his side. He dreams of becoming a doctor.

But he doesn't go to school. Nor does he go out of the yard of his home in Tshivulani Village, near Thohoyandou, Limpopo. He's afraid the other boys will touch his arm and give him more pain. His mother Betty is desperate to cure her son.

But hospitals, doctors, spiritual healers, pastors, prophets and sangomas have not been able to help.

Now there is hope in the form of Limpopo's MEC for Health, Norman Mabasa a doctor himself. Mabasa has promised to meet Vhuhwavho and his mum personally.
