Segun Toriola is Africa’s most-decorated table tennis player.

He won his first game on Saturday when he defeated defeated Canada’s Andre Ho 4-1 in the Olympic men’s Table tennis.

But yesterday at the North Arena of ExCel Centre, Quadri’s dream of equaling Segun Toriola’s feat at the Olympics was halted by Turkey’s Bora Vang in the second round encounter.
Quadri led 2-0 before he was rounded off by the world number 71 Turk for the match to end 6-11, 10-12, 12-10, 11-2, 12-10, 12-10 (4-2). Fans’ favourite, Quadri, initially threatened another shock victory against Vang, only to falter.
The Nigerian, who has enjoyed cult following at the ExCeL Arena, moved into a 2-0 lead before losing the next four games, three of which were extremely tight. It was Vang’s recovery that beat the effervescent Nigerian in a contest that delighted the crowd at the venue.

Nevertheless, Segun Toriola, you are still a winner.....;)

Fire razes UNN Student Affairs building

Property worth millions of naira were destroyed as a fire gutted down the Student Affairs Department building of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) on Saturday morning.

Sources say unidentified persons set the building ablaze, using fuel and that while no life was lost, the fire destroyed computers, documents and other office equipment.

It took the swift intervention of fire fighters stopped the fire from spreading to some female hostels close to the building. Policemen allegedly surrounded the Student Affairs Department shortly after the fire incident and prevented people from getting close to catch a glimpse of the scene.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of Enugu state command, Ebere Amaraizu, which confirmed the incident, said full investigations have begun into it.

13 passengers die on Benin-Ore road

No fewer than 13 passengers died in a motor accident on the Benin-Ore road, the  Federal Road Safety Commission  (FRSC) confirmed on Sunday.
In a statement issued by Mr Bisi Kazeem, Deputy Corps Public Education Officer,  the commission stated that the accident happened at kilometre 53, before Ohosun town, zone 5.12 toll gate unit command in Edo State at 7.45 a.m on Sunday.

Kazeem said the accident, which involved two vehicles, was caused by the driver of the Anambra Mass Transit Toyota Hiace bus, with registration number YB 610 EPE (Lagos), who for no reason drove against traffic on the Benin-Ore lane.

The driver faced an oncoming Iveco truck descending a slope, resulting in head-on collision. The bus was coming from Lagos carrying traders dealing in electronics and 13 out of the passengers in the bus died, while three people survived including the truck driver.

The victims, according to FRSC, have been taken to Shiloh Hospital, Ugbogui in Edo for treatment while corpses were deposited at the mortuary of the same hospital.

Encomium magazine- Stephanie Adie Henshaw has never been married before Reverend Christopher Okotie

What's yout take on this?This is what has been on social network for a while now;

Close friends, Stephanie Adie Henshaw has never been married before Reverend Christopher Okotie in the true sense of the word, according to Encomium magazine.
Stephanie’s first love before Okotie came into the picture was a young man she met through a friend in Lagos. With no intention of marriage, being quite young then, the innocent Calabar girl, unfortunately got pregnant for the man.

She was still carrying his baby when he was shot to death in Surulere, Lagos. The tragic death of Stephanie’s hat would happen to her years after.
“The pain they inflicted on Stephanie after the death of the father of her fisrt child was unbearable. One day, she was invited by the man’s people to know how the child was faring. And before she knew what was happening, they took custody of the child. She never set eyes on the boy until two, three years ago,” a highly reliable source told ENCOMIUM Weekly.

Stepahnie’s son was taken to England where he schooled before returning to the country. He has since reunited with his mom.

Stephanie Henshaw’s affair with one businessman, Mazi Okechukwu (Okey) was totally built on deceit which was not initially to the knowledge of the ravishingly beautiful lady.

"Stephanie didn’t know that Okey was a fraud. Okey told her he was not married. He was building a house back then in Omole Estate. Okey had rent a house for Stephanie in Ikeja, Lagos. And each time he sneaked out to see his first wife and children, he would say he had gone to see his mother. The day she found out the truth, she literally fainted,"our source revealed.

It was in-between this affair that produced two sons that Rev.Okotie, who had been admiring Stephanie from a distance started walking into her life.

ENCOMIUM Weekly learnt she was naturally pissed off with the Igbo businessman and literally needed a man she could call hers. From what we were told, Okotie staked his reputation, and risked his life to have Stephanie.

“He really loved Stephanie.
There was nothing he wouldn’t do for her. Okotie had cause to jump a fence for the sake of this love. Of course, you already know, he was attacked physically on several occasions all for Stephanie.

"It was this same Okey that smashed Okotie’s windscreen and all that. He, however, had to give up when it was obvious that Stephanie was no longer interested in the relationship. After all, there was no marriage to be dissolved, since there was none in the first place".

A born again Christian for almost 20 years, we were informed that Stephanie has always known God despite her marital woes. Our source who had known Stephanie for many years warned those castigating her to maintain their cool.

She even threatened to open up on many more issues relating to her four year marriage to Rev. Okotie if pushed to the wall. Before now, the impression engraved in people’s consciousness was that Stephanie was a widow and divorcee. an allegation her close friends and family members are now making serious effort to debunk.

Relatedly, more facts are beginning to emerge, throwing more light on the remote and immediate circumstances that contributed to the crash of her marriage to Household of God’s Chris Okotie on Sunday, June 24,2012.

Stephanie was not going to church as often as she was supposed to as pastor ‘s wife. She had also been accused of being stubborn, while another wicked allegation they fired at her had to do with bi-sexualism.

Rev. Chris Okotie’s image maker, Mr. Ladi Ayodeji, in his response to ENCOMIUM Weekly’s inquiries on the issue that same day said they have no comment on any issue related to Okotie/Stephanie marriage break-up.

Jude Ibezim Osemeke needs your help!

An appeal from Jude's family;
Mr Ibezim Jude Osemeke to appeal to your good conscience to assist us in sponsoring him for overseas medical treatment. About four months ago, Ibe suddenly developed hearing impairment, change in voice and severe headache and weakness of the body. He was seen at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital by a neurosurgeon who then requested for a CT Scan of the Brain. The report indicated that Ibe has brain tumour called Chordoma. The neurosurgeon then advised him to seek medical attention abroad.

We have contacted several reputable neurosurgery centres in India and all are of the opinion that he will benefit from surgery.

The definitive surgery which will be in two phases is estimated to cost 3.7 million naira (including the cost of transportation, lodging, operation fees, feeding etc). Mr Ibezim is from Onicha Ugbo in the present Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. He is a Mass Communication graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State and had been unemployed since on graduation. His father is late and the family cannot afford the total cost of his treatment.

We humbly appeal to you to assist in saving the life of this promising young Nigerian. May the Almighty God continue to bless and keep you and your family.

Please make your donations to

68-year-old soul singer, Gladys Knight says “I would knock Paris’s (Michael Jackson’s daughter) teeth out”

Feud: Paris remonstrates with Janet at the Jackson Calabasas compound earlier this week. Janet called Paris a 'spoiled little b****' while Paris shot back: 'This is our house. Not the Jackson family house. Get the f*** out!'

Gladys Knight (a friend of the family) has weighed into the Jackson family feud - insinuating 14-year-old Paris needs to pipe down and learn some respect for her elders.

Janet Jackson is 46 years while Paris is only 14years……what’s your take on this?
