My Children won't Get a Penny of His $81.7bn [£70billion ] Fortune - Bill Gates

He was speaking to Holly Willoughby and Ben Shephard on ITV’s, the 60-year-old said: “Well, our kids receive a great education and some money but they will go out and have their own careers." He will be giving it away to charity when he dies.

He reasoned that by allowing his children - two daughters and a son - to inherit his fortune “distorts anything” they might try to do. Gates said all three were “proud” of his decision. The businessman-turned-philanthropist said instead of billion-dollar trust funds, the children would have their own careers. Laughing, he added they would never go short saying “They are never going to be poorly off'. Gates said: “It's not a favour to kids to have them have huge sums of wealth. It distorts anything they might do, creating their own path.” The billionaire and his wife Melinda, 52, have three children together, Jennifer, 20, Rory, 17, and Phoebe, 14. The eldest is in her second year at prestigious Stanford University, California, where her father donated £5million to the construction of a computer science building in his name.

She is also a highly regarded show jumper competing nationally throughout the States. Rory and Phoebe are understood to live at home with their parents outside Seattle, Washington. Gates has vowed to pass on a fraction of their vast wealth to their children while the rest will go to the couple’s charity. The Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation was set up to fund health and education projects around the world. He said the decision to give away his money to good causes had made his children proud. Gates added: “This money is dedicated to helping the poorest. They know that, they are proud of that, they go on trips with us to see the work that's being done.”

Mariah Carey's man cancels engagement over her extravagant spending

According to TMZ,46 year old singer Mariah Carey and fiancé Australian billionaire James Packer have reportedly called off their engagement.

Packer is said to have been the one who dropped the ax on the relationship, with his reason being “her new reality TV show and extravagant spending”.

Packer wasn’t prepared to have his entire life on a reality TV show, and allowed her to keep the $10-million ring he bought for their engagement. TMZ sources say what may have been the deal breaker for Packer came when she had some sort of rendezvous with one of the dancers in her Vegas show ... something that is on video for the reality show. James reportedly hated the reality show from the get-go and it became a major source of conflict. “It’s all over,” one close family friend told Woman’s Day.

“James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.” There are also reports of tension between the award winning singer and the casino mogul’s family, claiming Packer’s mum didn’t like her.

NNPC is subsidising the consumption of petrol at N145.

Please take a read

Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Department of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said the company is subsidising the consumption of petrol at N145. According to a report by Daily Trust, Kyari spoke at the 10th Oil Trading and Logistics Africa Downstream Week in Lagos, where he also said it was impossible to import products at the current market price, at current fixed foreign exchange rate and recovered one’s money. He said marketers that are currently selling below N145/litre are doing so because they are not the importers of the fuel.

“Because we (NNPC) have taken the heat, and you buy from us you can afford to go to the market and then put a ridiculous price. It is not possible, because they did not import it.” However, Kyari ruled out the possibility of increasing the pump price by government due to the economic hardship in the country, saying, “It is impossible for this government to announce tomorrow that petrol is about N150.

This government cannot sustain it. That is the truth. The people will not take that number. But that is why the suppliers now are not importing. It is not about the foreign exchange.” He said “we are in subsidy regime absolutely, there is no way you bring product today and take it and sell at N145 and get back your money, and make profit. That is not possible. You can see some marketers saying that fuel is N138. It is because they did not import. Somebody has taken the heat of the price."
