Buratai says Shiite Leader not Army’s Custody

Tukur Buratai the chief of Army chief, said on Thursday that the arrested Shi’ite sect leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zak-Zaky, is no longer in the custody of the Army. A statement he made during the delegation from the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.
“As a responsible and law abiding organisation, we will do all that we can to always safeguard lives and property.

“As for the whereabouts of the Shi’ite leader, he is not in our custody; he has been handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution because we don’t prosecute. “What happened was avoidable and unfortunate, we followed the rules of engagement as enshrined in the constitution but what happened still happened,” he said.

Shiite spokesman denies attacking Nigerian Army first

On Channel TV station this morning, Shiite spokesman interprets his own story

"On Saturday, it was scheduled that an event will occur in Hosenia (there worship center) near our Islamic center that is along Sokoto road in Zaria. So around 1pm, our brothers who were gathering there just saw a contingent of Army being put there. So they came out an asked them why are you brought here? The soldiers say that they are army chief is coming and that they have a passing out parade. Our brothers asked them this is not the first time you are doing your passing out parade, why should you come and be stationed just opposite Hosenia there? Last year the soldiers opened fire on the Muslim brothers while they were doing a Quds Day rally. So with this in mind the brothers asked them that it is not proper for them to be stationed just opposite the Hosenia and so they asked them to move back. When the soldiers who were many in number decided to move back, then the brothers started thinking that they had gone to bring more reinforcement; that was when the crisis started. It was then that the Army Chief’s convoy came and the brothers were not comfortable with what might transpire. After some negotiation with both sides, they then started opening fire and killed seven people on the spot and they got passage after dispersing the brothers near Hosenia. What surprised us is when the Army Chief had passed, why should they come back and lay siege on the Hosenia? After laying seige on Hosenia, tThey also went to the residence of our leader, Sheik Ibrahim Zak-Kaky and this confrontation went on right from 1pm on that Faithful Saturday down till Sunday morning. In Hosenia, there are over 1000 or 2000 brothers and sisters there. During the night they kept on firing, using grenades. We think they used bombs also because the building was completely raised to the ground. A lot of muslim brothers and sisters were killed. When they finished with Hosenia by Sunday morning, they proceeded to Sheik Zakzaky's house. There also there are thousands of Muslim brothers and Sisters who were there to give protection to the Sheik. There they opened fire also and our Muslim brothers right from our history in the past 40 years, it is known that we have never taken up any arms. We have never attacked anybody. We are only trying to make people to understand the true teachings of Prophet Mohammed. We don't carry arms and even the soldiers confessed in one of their interviews that they didn't see any gun or something of that nature. They only saw catapults, machetes and other things” he said. Ibrahim denied that his members made use of petrol bombs during the clash but however admitted that some of them were with Matchetes. He went on to say that machetes are not in anyway weapons. “We have never made any petrol bombs but machetes. Who hasn’t any machetes in his house? Machete is just what you use in cutting something that is strong. So I see no reason why machete should be termed as a weapon, machete is not a weapon. How can you compare a gun and a machete? It’s just ridiculous. It’s not possible, we haven’t ever used any petrol bomb throughout our 40 years in this movement and we have never carried arms. So they are just trying to make it up that we are the ones who attacked them and it’s ridiculous to say we tried to assassinate the Chief of Army Staff” he said

Nigeria predominantly Muslim?

At first I overlooked it but on second thought…..the title on news- list of the predominantly Muslim countries teaming up to fight ISIS, and Nigeria inclusive?
So these are the most talked about countries that are predominantly Muslimto fight Isis Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo.

Is it wiser to eradicate Boko Haram first before lending a hand to the fighting of ISIS? ……this is just me thinking out loud!!!!!!!!

Mr. Adewale Adeyemo appointed as deputy national security adviser by Barack Obama

A big thumbs up to Mr. Adewale Adeyemo (34years)as the United States President, Barack Obama has appointed him , to succeed Caroline Atkinson as his deputy national security adviser for international economic affair, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Adewale "Wally" Adeyemo,34, joined the White House's National Economic Council as deputy director this fall from the Treasury, where he served most recently as the deputy chief of staff to Secretary Jacob Lew.
Ms. Atkinson has served in her current post since June 2013, a position that includes coordinating U.S. participation in the annual summits of the Group of 20 and Group of Seven countries. Ms. Atkinson also played key roles in the recently concluded climate negotiations in Paris.
Mr. Adeyemo was the Treasury’s lead negotiator on the currency agreement that was part of the Pacific trade deal. He also worked on Treasury’s response to crises in Ukraine and Greece and in 2010 was one of the first officials charged with standing up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

This is the statement from Obama in effect to this: "For the past four years, I have relied on Caroline Atkinson, most recently as my Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics, as we’ve navigated pressing challenges to the global economy. "As my representative at the G-7 and G-20, she played a key role in coordinating our response to international financial crises, worked with our allies to devise and implement targeted economic sanctions to advance our national security goals, played a vital role in our economic engagements with China, and helped to achieve breakthrough agreements on climate that will strengthen our economy and our security. "I’ve relied on, and benefited from, Caroline’s knowledge and judgment and, as she concludes her tenure on my national security team, I am deeply appreciative of her service. "I am grateful that Caroline’s work will be carried on by Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo, who has served in my administration since 2009. At the Treasury Department, he was part of the team that helped coordinate our response to the global recession, laying the foundation for renewed growth at home and abroad. “He helped establish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and he’s been our point person on a range of international economic issues, including negotiations on strong currency agreements around the Trans Pacific Partnership. I will be calling on Wally’s intellect, judgment and dedication as we sustain America’s global economic leadership, which reinforces our national security, and as we work with allies and partners around the world to create jobs and opportunity for all our people."
