Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh the first Doctor got infected in the course of treating Ebola patient Patrick Sawyer

Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh is a Senior Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at First Consultant one of the doctors who treated late Liberian Patrick Sawyer. She Is still hanging there (to survive)
Her colleagues put her picture and stated in a press conference on Thursday, appealing to the U.S Government to urgently send whatever treatment they have for the Ebola virus to Nigeria to save her life and that of other Nigerians at risk of the disease.

Her colleague Mr Okubadejo said on Thursday;
“She treated Sawyer because she was patriotic only for her to be infected with the virus. I am appealing to the U.S. government to send whatever medication they have to Nigeria fast to save Adadevoh. She does not deserve to die. So, this is the reason for this appeal,”

According to what her collegues said.... Dr. Adadevoh was one of those who refused to let Sawyer leave the hospital when he attempted to leave before getting the lab results. She probably saved many lives by doing this despite pressure from the Liberian ambassador. Dr. Adadevoh has spent three decades caring for others and deserves the crusade for the drugs. God be with her. #USsendZmapp. #SaveDr.Ameyo.

Another black unarmed teenager shot by a police officer in Missouri

This story doesn’t seem to surprise me, why didn’t the policeman radio the incident after he shot the teenager he claimed was struggling with him?
Anyways just read……..
The police officer who shot and killed black teenager Michael Brown on a street in Ferguson, St. Louis last Saturday August 9th has been named. His name is Darren Wilson and he's supposedly 'torn up' over the shooting. They are yet to release a pic of what the officer looks like.

Darren Wilson is said to be a six-year veteran of the Ferguson Police Department and has no history of disciplinary action. The police claim the officer was treated for injuries after the shooting. Officer Wilson claims Michael attacked him and struggled with him over his gun during the altercation.

The Ferguson police chief in a press briefing today gave a timeline of the minutes leading up to the shooting on Saturday afternoon.
"At 11.48am, Officer Wilson was at an unrelated ‘sick call’ with an ambulance. At 11.51am, a 911 call came in reporting a 'strong-armed' robbery at a convenience store, which included a description of two suspects."
At 12.01pm, Officer Wilson made contact with Michael Brown who was walking with a friend.
A second officer arrived on scene immediately following the shooting. At 12.05pm, a supervisor arrived.

Chief Jackson said the ambulance that had been on the sick call responded to the shooting and provided medical assistance to Mr Brown - who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have said 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot dead after Officer Wilson encountered him and another man on the street. Police claim one of the men pushed the officer into his squad car, then physically assaulted him in the vehicle and struggled with the officer over the officer's weapon. At least one shot was fired inside the car. The struggle then spilled onto the street, where Brown was shot multiple times.

Witnesses have said the officer fired on Brown as he tried to run away. 18 year-old Michael had been due to start classes at Vatterott College this past Monday, two days before he was killed. Michael was walking, unarmed, from a convenience store with another man to his grandmother's apartment in Ferguson, when the police man confronted them.

Screw those Northern elders- Charles Novia

First was Chidi  Mokeme  on this issue, now Charles voices out too.....On Monday, Northern leaders declared that they are giving President Jonathan an ultimatum till the end of October to bring back the over 200 school girls abducted in the Chibok area of Borno state by Boko Haram and failure to do so means he is not fit to seek a re-election in 2015.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President, Doyin Okupe released a statement a day later, stating that the commander-in-chief does not need the threats by the faction to bring back the girls.
Opinionated Nigerian filmmaker Charles Novia is also speaking out on the topic.
Screw those so-called Northern Elders. Do they speak for a region or for their selfish interests? Mr President has a right to run again

— charles novia (@charlesnovia) August 13, 2014 He can be stopped through the ballot box not some silly and self – serving threats from those who ran this country aground once.

 — charles novia (@charlesnovia) August 13, 2014 When cabals reduce the office of the President to one who buckles under threats, then it is time to defend the sanctity of that office.
 — charles novia (@charlesnovia) August 13, 2014 They orchestrate a kidnap and use that as a blackmail tool when it backfires. Clap for them!

Fighting Ebola ,Canada offers 1000 dose of experimental vaccine to Africa

Though the drug might not have been tested on human, the Canadian Public Health Agency has offered to release 1000 dose of a made-in-Canada experimental Ebola virus vaccine known as VSV-EBOV which has never been tested on humans but has shown to be effective in the treatment of the disease in animals.

In a statement released yesterday August 12th, the Canadian Health Minister Rona Ambrose said the World Health Organization's Director general, Margaret Chan, has approved of the donation.

The Minister also revealed that Canada will be donating $185,000 to the World Health Organization for the prevention and control of the deadly virus in Africa. Canada has only 1500 of the experimental vaccine and would be sending 1000 of it to Africa.

"I was pleased to offer the experimental vaccine developed by Canadian researchers as a global resource to help fight this outbreak," she said, adding that between 800 and 1,000 doses would be donated to the WHO. The Minister in the statement added that "Canada feels this experimental vaccine is a global resource, so in response we are sharing it with the international community, while keeping a small supply in Canada."

The news comes hours after the World Health Organization said a panel of experts advised that it would be ethical to use untested drugs and vaccines in this raging epidemic, which is several times larger than any previous outbreak.

This is good news…..hopefully it reaches Nigeria soonest….The Liberian president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, announced yesterday that their country is to receive sample doses of experimental drug, ZMapp to treat doctors infected with Ebola

A statement published on Mrs Sirleaf's website on Monday said the US had approved a request from Liberia to ship the medicine after a direct appeal to US President Barack Obama on Friday.

But spokesperson for the US Health and Human Services (HHS) Department said US authorities had simply assisted in connecting the Liberian government with the drug's manufacturer, insisting that the drug company had worked directly with the Liberian government.
