Nigeria to start paying £3,000 cash bond to enter Britain.

According to a report by UK Daily Mail, visitors from 'high risk' countries in Africa and Asia will have to put up a £3,000 cash bond to enter Britain.

The money will be kept by the Government if visitors do not return home by the time their visas expire.

A pilot scheme, introduced by Home Secretary Theresa May, will target hundreds of people coming to Britain on six-month visit visas from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The countries have been picked for their high number of visa applications and what the Government sees as relatively high levels of immigration abuse and fraud, reports the Sunday Times.

The bonds, to be introduced from November, will only apply to non-EU migrants, otherwise they would fall foul of European rights to free movement.

'This is the next step in making sure our immigration system is more selective, bringing down net migration from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands while still welcoming the brightest and the best to Britain,' Mrs May told the Sunday Times.

'In the long run we’re interested in a system of bonds that deters overstaying and recovers costs if a foreign national has used our public services.'

A second scheme will cover countries such as Kenya, the newspaper reports, which are considered to be lower-risk because immigration officials have fewer doubts about migrants' plans to return home.

About 2.2million people are granted visas to enter Britain every year. Last year 296,000 people from India were granted six-month visas, as were 101,000 from Nigeria, 53,000 from Pakistan and 14,000 apiece from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The Home Secretary plans to reduce annual net migration to under 100,000 by 2015.

Stephanie Henshaw's life after Chris Okotie

According to Punch, the ravishingly beautiful lady seemed to have struck gold when she married Pastor Chris Okotie at elaborate twin ceremonies a few years ago. So in love were the duo that many thought it was too real to be true. He showered her with attention and gifts.

This remained the state of things until things turned ugly last year and they split. Following the break up, he not only retrieved the car gifts he bought for her when the going was good, he stripped her of all other privileges she used to enjoy as his wife.

For the mother of three, who is said to reside with her sister in Lagos, she was sighted in a not-so-posh part of town riding in an air conditioned taxi.

Our Student Did Not Flush Baby In Toilet – Obafemi Awolowo University

Authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, say a 400-level engineering student, Miss Oyinlola Rotimi,  did not attempt to flush her newborn baby boy down the toilet at Moremi Hall on Wednesday.

Rotimi had caused commotion when she was seen in the toilet with the baby.
But a statement by the Head, Public Relations Unit, OAU, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, on Thursday, said Rotimi did not attempt to kill her baby, whom he said was rescued from the water closet of the toilet.

Olanrewaju said the father of the baby is a “400 level Student of Mechanical Engineering, OAU, Ile-Ife.”

He said an investigation into the incident showed that Rotimi had no intention to kill her baby, adding that she was inexperienced about labour.

The statement read, “The truth of the matter is that, there was a delivery of a baby boy by an inexperienced mother who, in her naivety, thought she was pressed by call of nature while she was actually in labour pains.

“Prior to the appearance of the baby, the young, inexperienced mother had discovered that she was bleeding and went to the toilet only to observe that something expelled into the water closet. “It was at that juncture that she screamed and shouted for help when her friend, Miss Satope Oladayo, heard her voice and traced her to the toilet from their room.

It was when Satope entered the toilet and found the baby that she (Satope) called an elderly cleaner for assistance because the two of them were novices in childbearing. “As of now, Rotimi’s mother is with her and she has started breastfeeding her baby.

“Upon interaction, in the presence of the Matron, Mrs. M.G. Oyedele, Oyin stated that prior to the delivery, she was passing stool and had visited toilet several times but the last time she went around 7am, she could not describe how she was feeling.”

"I would have been married if MoHits had not broken up"- Dbanj

Here is the a recent interview Dbanj had with Pm News

When are you going to get married and have kids?
To tell you the truth, I would have been married if Mo’Hits had not broken up. The crisis really affected me and I had to start so many things afresh. Just like my mentor 2Face Idibia, I will be married and have my own kids one day.
How much do you miss Don Jazzy?
I really miss Don Jazzy and I miss the whole Mo’Hits crew. But are we talking about the engine or about the whole car?
How much would you say D’Banj is worth now?
Oshee! I can tell you that Eja nla (big fish) is comfortable. But sincerely, I don’t know how much I am worth because I have not really taken my time to check. In fact, I don’t even want to check so that it won’t get into my head. But I must confess to you that God is really involved in my life right now.

However, another source hinted that the student’s intention might not have been to flush the baby but that the new born baby came out unexpectedly into the water closet.

The Dean of Students’ Affairs in the university, Dr. Lateefat Durosinmi, and the security department were said to have taken over the matter. Contacted, Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, confirmed the incident. He, however, cautioned that people should not jump into conclusion by believing that the student intentionally wanted to flush the new born baby, adding that the security department was already investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to him, “the cleaner, who was said to have discovered the blood and subsequently caught the student was being interrogated by the security department.”

Italian designers Dolce&Gabbana sentenced to prison for tax evasion

Though yesterday, this case has been suspended pending their appeal, prior to that, the Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the men behind fashion power house, Dolce & Gabbana were sentenced to one year and eight months in prison by an Italian court after being found guilty of tax evasion. They were also fined €500,000.

The multimillionaire designers were accused of hiding millions of euros from Italian tax authorities, charges they deny and have said they intend to appeal against any conviction.

Italian authorities are accusing them of moving their brand to a Luxembourg-based holding company Gado - in 2004, so they could avoid declaring taxes on royalties of about 1 billion euros.

The Italian authorities have been investigating the designers for about six years now and they were actually cleared of tax evasion/fraud charges at a previous trial in April 2011 but Italy's highest court overturned that ruling, ordering that the case be sent back to trial.

British PM to persuade Jonathan to give equal rights to gay/lesbians

Cameron said yesterday “nothing should be off the table” when it comes to foreign aid and protecting equal rights. He spoke on a BBC programme.

Cameron told the BBC that he would be raising the issue with Nigeria’s leaders.

“With countries like Nigeria, where we have a very good relationship, a very strong relationship, nothing should be off the table”, the prime minister said.

“So when we meet with Nigerian politicians and Nigerian leaders, we should be very clear about those things that we agree about and very clear where we disagree.”

Mr Cameron said the UK has a “very good record on equal rights for lesbian and gay people”, adding: “we believe that’s right for every country in the world.”

“The matter of your sexuality is something that shouldn’t be a disadvantage to you [just as] your religion, or your race, or the way you should choose your life “ When asked if UK foreign aid should be docked from Nigeria, the prime minister said: “We will have to have some conversations with them, as I said nothing is off the table and we should have these conversations, but we also have some very important objectives with the Nigerians for instance to deal with the appalling rates of poverty in the north of Nigeria which [is] part of a problem that affects not just Nigeria but the rest of the world.”

The PM added: “But as I said, nothing [is] off the table; always prepared to have these conversations, and my view very strongly is that we should have proper equality for lesbian and gay people and that should apply everywhere in the world.”
