Rick Ross offers apology

A few days ago,the Athletic wear company Reebok officially dropped Rick Ross as the face of Reebok Classic in the wake of controversy over lyrics he contributed to the Rocko tune "U.O.E.N.O,
His Music mogul boasted about drugging and raping a woman. He spit:
“Put Molly (Ecstasy) all in the champagne.  She ain’t even know it.  I took her home and I enjoy that.  She ain’t even know it.”
Rick Ross finally offers a real apology...

“Before I am an artist, I am a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world.

So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets. As an artist, one of the most liberating things is being able to paint pictures with my words. But with that comes a great responsibility. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize. To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence. To the young men who listen to my music, please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it’s wrong and I do not encourage it. To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it.” –William Roberts (a.k.a “Rick Ross”)

Felix Nchikwo Canadian based Nigerian dies after competing Mixed Martial Art

A Canada-based Nigerian student has reportedly died after competing in mixed martial art contest in Michigan, USA on Saturday.

US authorities say the 35-year-old Nigerian man, who collapsed and died after the fight, had been living in Canada on a student visa.

Police Capt. Jeff Baker identified the man as Felix Nchikwo, but known in the ring as Pablo Elochukwu. Baker did not release Nchikwo’s place of residence or school in Canada or his Nigerian hometown. Authorities say he told a trainer he wasn’t feeling well after losing the fight Saturday night at a Port Huron American Legion Post.

The heavyweight, who sources say weighed 265 pounds for his MMA debut on Friday and was also a three-time gold-medal winner on the local grappling circuit, was competing in an unsanctioned event. According to sources, neither he nor his opponent was required to undergo pre-fight medicals for their bout. The first two rounds were said to have been mostly grappling, but the inexperienced fighters both began showcasing signs of fatigue, especially in between rounds two and three.

Sometime in the third round, Nchikwo was mounted and was not intelligently defending what were deemed to be soft hammer fists. The referee was forced to stop the bout. Authorities conducted an autopsy on Sunday but say it was inconclusive, and they’re now awaiting the results of forensic tests to seek the cause of death.

“Keshi Must Return To Nigeria By Monday If He Likes His Job” – NFF

Emeka Inyama, a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, has stated that Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, has travelled to the US without permission and must return from his California base by Monday.
The former Mali and Togo boss left the country and failed to attend the meeting of the technical committee and the NFF have asked him to return and answer a query.
“Keshi has been recalled and he must be in Abuja on Monday if he still cares about his job,” Inyama said.
He also noted that Keshi was notified about the meeting, but still chose to leave.

“Keshi was formally invited to the Technical and Development Committee meeting [on Tuesday] to discuss, among other issues, the list of players he released for the matches ahead, his back room staff and misunderstanding between him and some of his players.

“But Keshi did not show up and [the NFF] doesn’t know why he did not show up. The fact remains that Keshi applied for a leave to see his family and it has not been approved or confirmed and he travelled. The NFF wants him to be part of all the discussions affecting his team with the committee before he would be allowed to proceed to the US for his holiday, but he chose to leave without permission. “But he had the time to collect his cars from Globacom on Monday and jet out to the US just less than 24 hours before the Technical Committee meeting on Tuesday.

We shouldn’t condone what is bad. It will only take 120 dollars to change his ticket from going on that Monday and to go the next day. That is what we are saying. The meeting has a lot to do about his team, Fifa Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup qualifiers.”
