Nigerian Sopuruchi Chukwuke gets U.S. Permanent Residency -President Barack Obama

The 26 year-old Nigerian born Sopuruchi who grew up as an outcast in the village of Ovim in southeastern Nigeria because the tumors that distorted one side of his face wouldn’t stop growing.
In 2001, when he was 15, his parents took him to an orphanage and abandoned him. Thankfully, he was rescued by a missionary nun, who arranged medical care in the U.S. Eleven years and seven operations later, doctors have removed the benign growths caused by the genetic disease neurofibromatosis, and have performed reconstructive surgery.

He had been living in Michigan on an expired visa. His doctors performed surgeries over a period of time, he says, which contributed to his expired visa. In a rare act, the United States Congress passed a private bill a few weeks ago granting Sopuruchi permanent residency after years of his living in Michigan on an expired visa.

The bill was awaiting President Obama‘s signature but has now been signed. According to CNN, his is the only private bill to pass in Congress in two years. With his permanent residency, Sopuruchi can now attend Medical School at the University of Toledo.

He had earlier attended Wayne State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, obtaining a 3.82 GPA. Soon after that, he got admission to study medicine. Speaking about his ambition to become a doctor, he said “My own personal struggles to receive treatment have motivated and encouraged me to pursue a medical career … to alleviate the pain and suffering of others.” His admission into Medical school however came with one condition: that he obtain permanent-residency status. Now he has and he can live his dreams!

Woman Kidnapped, Raped In Her Car For 5 Hours On Christmas Day, 3 Men Arrested

Three teenage boys kidnapped woman, 22, on Christmas, robbed her and raped her for five hours even after she vomited on them.

A young woman’s Christmas—and her life—was shattered Tuesday when she was kidnapped, raped, robbed and beaten in her own car by three teenagers over the course of five hours, according to police.

"You’ll get sick in the stomach," said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood, before reciting the facts of the case.

Around 11:40 p.m. Christmas night, the 22-year-old victim was in her Jeep Cherokee, waiting for her boyfriend to come out of a nearby bar
,

when three men—one of whom had a gun—forced their way inside of her vehicle, Chitwood said. They made the woman move to the back seat and drove her around Philadelphia for hours, police said. One by one, the men took turns in the back seat, forcing the victim to perform sex acts, even after she repeatedly vomited on them, according to court documents.

The men hit her on multiple occasions and robbed her of her Coach purse, wallet, car stereo, cell phone, camera, GPS, ruby ring, diamond necklace, bracelet and her insurance-and-registration paperwork, according to police. After going through her belongings, the men realized the victim had a 2-year-old daughter and they threatened her life and the child’s life if she said anything to authorities. They then parked the car at Long Lane near Marshall Road, told the victim they would throw the keys under the car and fled on foot. The woman waited for several minutes, grabbed her keys and drove to her boyfriend's house, and they both went to the police station. In a bizarre twist, authorities took less than an hour to track down the alleged attackers after police were called to an Upper Darby home to respond to a disturbance.

A woman had called 911 saying a teenager staying over at her house with her son was bragging about having a gun. When officers, who knew about the vicious rape, arrived at the home, they discovered four teens—two of whom were the woman’s sons and one of whom, Kevin Jones, said he was a friend of the woman’s sons who stayed at the house so he could illegally attend Upper Darby High School, police said. The fourth teen at the scene, Kewon Matthews, said he was a friend to Jones, according to police. Inside the house, the observant officers spotted a Coach handbag that matched the one stolen from the rape victim, Chitwood said. After confirming with the woman in the house that the bag was not hers, police opened it and found some of the victim’s stolen items inside.

The victim was then brought to the house where she identified Matthews and Jones, both 17, as two of her attackers, Chitwood said. The sons of the woman who owns the house were questioned but not charged with any crimes. After the arrest of Matthews and Jones, police were able to identify the third suspect as Brehon Rawlings, 19, of Yeadon, Chitwood said. Rawlings was found hiding in the bathtub of his home around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

All three men were charged as adults with kidnapping, rape, robbery and related offenses and are being held on $500,000 bail each. They are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on New Year’s Eve day.

2012,highest paid Entertainers

In no particular order, here we go:

DON JAZZY: The MAVIN Records boss signed a deal with Samsung Africa and broke bank with the Loya Milk deal. With his eyes firmly on the prize, the gifted producer moved beyond the Mo’Hits beef to focus on pushing and monetizing MAVIN content, while expanding into fresh business areas. He’s penned a deal to produce the theme song for theAfrica Cup of Nations holding in 2013… And the recently launched Pop Club is a year-end addition that’ll sure bear fruits….

PSQUARE: The twins probably made  the highest number of cash this year, performed at various shows attended by thousands. Peter and Paul Okoye, whose billable attract close to  double figures in millions also signed a deal with Universal Music.

OMOTOLA JALADE-EKEINDE: Omosexy cashed out with her reality show ‘The Real Me’ for which she reportedly got paid a huge sum. She also featured in two big budget movies ‘Amina’ and ‘Last Flight to Abuja’.
DAVIDO: The young son of billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke is making daddy proud earning his own money at the young age of 20. Davido who started out as a rookie less than two years ago now charges four to five million Naira to perform at gigs and here’s the good part, he gets to perform at least three gigs in a week. Could be up to five, in seasons such as this. 2012 incomes include the N30m deal with MTN…

Tuface Idibia: If he did not make the list, wouldn’t you be scared? 2face started the year, releasing his fifth solo album and then embarked on a sponsored US tour. Charging as much as $60,000 per show, Mr. Idibia was busy all year, headlining gigs all over. Investment in real estate and hospitality (including Club Rumours, in Ikeja, Lagos) also paid off.

BASKETMOUTH: Bright Okpocha’s transition from mere stand-up comic to events compere and TV host has the big bucks rolling in for him. His Globacom endorsement remains intact, and he’s delved heavily into show promotions here and abroad. There’s also the successful EmBARssy Lounge on Lagos mainland.

GENEVIEVE NNAJI: Nollywood actress is ahead of her peers , benefiting from endless endorsements (Range Rover) and reaping dividends from private businesses. Paid a mind boggling figure to act in the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie's 'Half of a yellow sun', Ms Nnaji rarely takes up movie roles these days. When she does, then it must be worth it.

WIZKID: The EME pop star this year made big bucks from his endorsement deal with carbonated soft drink Pepsi. Same for his deal with Star, for the all-star song. And all through the year.

D'BANJ: Gone are the days when he made N10 million a week. These days, the superstar entertainer is making more business deals than hits and the figures are amazing.Paid between N5 and N15 million for engagements, and enjoying royalties from U.k and USA.

ALI BABA: When the king of comedy isn’t cracking people up on Twitter, he’s making big bucks consulting or compering events for multinationals, government or high net worth individuals.
