Residents flee as Police begin search for killers of UNIPORT students
The Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ben Ugwuegbulam, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), in a telephone interview confirmed that four persons were killed on Friday at Aluu for allegedly stealing, but could not ascertain if the victims were students of UNIPORT or not.
Ugwuegbulam also stated that the police command was investigating the unfortunate incident, while warning residents of the state against taking the law into their own hands.
The police spokesman urged members of the public to always make useful information about criminals in their midst available to the command, while assuring that their identities would be well protected.
It was learnt that the owners of the expensive mobile phones, including BlackBerry and the laptops at the off-campus hostel, complained to their friends over the loss of the items, thereby raising the alarm, which attracted indigenes of Aluu and passers-by.
The horrible and blood-soaked corpses of the victims were later deposited at the morgue of an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.UNIPORT's Deputy Registrar, Information, Dr. Williams Wodi, when contacted yesterday for his reaction on the incident, said: "Right now, I am not in a position to confirm to you that the alleged victims are bona fide students of UNIPORT, as is being widely speculated.
"The alleged incident took place at Aluu village, about two kilometres outside our main campus. We do not have responsibility for security in Aluu communities, which are beyond our jurisdiction. The relevant security outfits are working with our security department to establish the true identities of the victims and what actually transpired on the day of the reported incident. "The Dean of Student Affairs (of UNIPORT) is also working round the clock to establish their identities as students of UNIPORT.
The university will certainly issue a statement once preliminary facts are laid on the table."
Gunmen attack Yobe village killing unspecified number of people.
The gunmen invaded the village on Saturday, and started firing indiscriminately.
Two people died immediately, the Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Patrick Egbuniwe, confirmed to Agence France Presse.
“A group of unknown gunmen stormed Dogon Kuka village and opened fire on residents. From all indications, they were on a shooting spree. From reports reaching us, some people might have been killed,” Egbuniwe told AFP.
The state police commissioner said he could not put a figure on the number of deaths.
“I don’t have details yet but we have deployed security personnel to the village to ascertain the nature and extent of the attack,” he said.
He declined to say if the attackers were members of the extremist Boko Haram, which has been blamed for a string of deadly attacks in several parts of Yobe State and neighbouring Borno State.
The village is about 70 kilometres (45 miles) from Damaturu, the state capital.

Brutal Killing of the UNIPORT students few days ago
Chiadikobi is the son of top Senior Manager at the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).Mr.Onyema Biringa
IIyod aka Big L and Ugonna are cousins
The brutal beating death of the four University of Port Harcourt students reported earlier, more information has been revealed. The students are- Ugonna, Ilyod, Tekana and Chidiaka
Mr. Onyema Biringa father of Chiadikobi said he can afford to buy any type of telephone handset or laptop for any of his four sons, the whole family is still in shock, and are seeking divine intervention over the cruel fate that has befallen their beloved son.
He said "I have handed over the murderers to God," he told a relative last night. Chiadikobi's body has been taken to his hometown, Umungwa, Obowo, in neighbouring Imo State, for burial yesterday.
Also Ugonna and IIyod are cousins, both of them were upcoming rappers. Big L was the winner of a popular Rap Contest show on SilverbirdTV PH called 'Turb Show'
Seriously, for them to be lynched few days ago by a mob for allegedly stealing handsets and laptops does not make sense in anyway and it is very questionable and every citizen in his or her right mind demand for justice.

A man disowns his wife for giving birth to a girl
A 51- year-old man, Mr. Lukman Agoro, was alleged to have thrown his wife, Sadiat, out of their matrimonial home for giving birth to a baby girl. Sadiat, who was dragged before an Agege customary court by her husband for not allowing him to see his child, however said that Lukman had warned her earlier that she should not venture to give birth to a baby girl if she wanted to live under the same roof with him.
She added that her husband once vowed that he would not be involved in the upbringing of the child and that she ( Sadiat ) would raise the child at her parents house. The wife also informed the court that barely three months after she gave birth to her daughter, Lukman threw her belongings out, and claimed that he didn’t have interest in the relationship any longer. ”
To my surprise, Lukman came to my parents house when my daughter was exactly one year old claiming that he wanted to mark the little girl’s birthday”. She added that her daughter ran away from him, because she didn’t know him as a father. In his submission, Lukman told the court that his mother-in-law didn’t like his face, adding that she didn’t want her daughter to live with him as his wife.
He therefore pleaded that the court should dissolve the marriage and grant him custody of the girl.
The case was adjourned till October 24, 2012 for further hearing.

Nigerian doctor based in UK commits Suicide after his double life was exposed
Dr Festus Ojagbemi lived with long-term partner Jackie Hammond in the week and lover Bamidele Ayeni at weekends.
Dr Festus Ojagbemi lived with long-term partner Jackie Hammond in the week and lover Bamidele Ayeni at weekends. The 49-year-old fathered a child with Bamidele and racked up thousands of pounds in debt taking the women on separate holidays, the hearing was told.
But when Jackie discovered his sordid secret he stabbed himself twice in the chest at his surgery. He survived and while he recovered in hospital told police and both women he had been attacked by a stranger. Dr Ojagbemi, who worked at St Mary’s Medical Centre in Strood, Kent, finally confessed to officers, only to take his own life four days later on February 12, the inquest heard. Jackie later found him hanged at the detached house they shared in nearby Hempstead. A note signed with his nickname, Wally, was on the TV cabinet.
After the Nigerian-born doctor’s death, the cost of leading his double life started to emerge. Jackie told the Maidstone hearing a credit card firm phoned claiming he owed them £10,000. She said: “I started phoning and everyone told me how much he owed them. "By the time we got to the 10th or 11th the bill was huge we just couldn’t get our heads round it. "I work, I get paid, so we don’t talk about finances. If we go on holiday he pays.’’
Jackie claimed Dr Ojagbemi killed himself because of the guilt he felt over his cheating. She said: “He wanted my attention, he just wanted me to notice he was hurting because of what he had done to me.’’ Bamidele did not appear at the inquest but the hearing was told of evidence she gave to police. She claimed Dr Ojagbemi proposed last October and they were preparing for a wedding in April. He rented a flat for her and their child and visited on weekends. She said she knew about Jackie, but he had told her he “did not love her any more”. Bamidele told officers:
“He’s intelligent, loving, caring, he buys me lots of things. "Why would he do this to himself? Wally told me not to give anyone the news that we were getting married in April because everyone would go on about it.” Coroner Gail Elliman said: “I am satisfied Dr Ojagbemi took his own life.”
